Im a salesman who works at a dealership that doesn’t charge, doc fees, administration fees and doesn’t add on other low value crap like wheel locks.
When sitting with a customer I will literally turn my screen towards them so they can follow along with all the numbers. My customers know ALL the numbers in their purchase.
Purchase price, license, taxes, finance rate, total financing charges, and the complete out the door number!
Do I and the dealership need to make money when we sell a car? Of course we do. But you don’t need to do it unethically by hiding fees and charges like that Florida family plan. It’s your money and you deserve to see where it’s going!
Take Ray and Zach’s advice and ask these questions!

Last vehicle we bought, the dealer wanted to know what I could afford per month, I said "$4, 895, but you aren't getting that, what is the OTD price?" Changed the entire dynamic of the deal.

Florida folk here. I wish I would have found your videos a few years ago. I got screwed on the car I have right now. Ford fiesta SE 2019. Had just a little over 46000 miles on it. Still haven’t even hit over 100, 000 yet. It was my very first time ever buying a car (financing it). Now that I’ve sat here and watched so many videos of yours I know what to do and I feel like a complete idiot for not knowing any of these things. I wish I would have known about all these things before hand I would have ran for the hills instead of getting that car….. (don’t get me wrong the fiesta is actually really amazing car if properly taken care of but man it is small and I have giants for children). Thank you both for taking so much time to explain fees and what to look out for and to ask. Because of you guys I now know what to avoid like the plague.

The car dealership I went to on Memorial Day would not give me out the door price. He wanted to sit down and talk financing or monthly payment. Left after 3 tries asking for OTD price.

This is funny. Tried to negotiate a deal today. Kept asking for the OTD price and they kept trying to talk about monthly payments. Said I would have to finance through them(nope) for a dealer discount and when I asked about the factory installed fees, they were like well those are manufacturers installed it must be paid. I’m like you can literally take those mats out the trunk. They wouldn’t budge, I left.

Local Nissan Dealer ask me if I was a Costco member. Since I am they took $1000.00 off the price. Then they low balled on the trade in value of my current car. You guessed it, it was about $1000.00 below what Edmunds said the lowest trade in value. The good thing is the loan rate is 1.9 % for 36 months.

This is what happened in Australia: I was going to finance my car through a external broker anyway but was curious to find out how much I would pay for the dealer finance's "low interest rate" - dealer offered 6.99% the broker was 8.8% - somehow over the course of the loan with the dealer I would end up paying almost double the price of the car but with the broker was far far lower - needless to say I stuck with the broker. Mind you I have a hire purchase agreement wheres the dealer was offering a normal loan.

We call the OTD price here the drive away price - and cars here are always listed or negotiated as that not sure why in the states anyone even negotiates on the monthly price.

Do, you have a video on OTD no trade in? But most of the places I went to 1 guy was under MSRP so what’s a good deal anything under MSRP or how much under? Lots of these places like to do the tint, gps and so, e bogus coating that’s already included in the process because they applied it which is useless

Looking at a car to buy that when I looked at the traceability of the vehicle and which dealership had it, it started out at the Mazda dealership and then went to another dealership up the street a different dealership of Buick dealership. Why would one dealership give it to another dealership or how does that work?

Went to a dealer a week ago. There 5 minutes. Asked for ootd, salesman told me he didn’t really think I was serious about buying a car, shook my hand and basically escorted me to the door. I was shocked

I asked for an out the door price on a RAV4, after a test drive, and the sales kid (20 yrs old) told me, " That's what they tell you on You Tube." Then the manager was so rude, I left. How do people feel good about cheating people??

How do we know that the dealership is actually telling the truth about what the buy rate is?? Is this shown on some sort of a bank invoice paper?? Can they just be making up a buy rate that’s closer to the apr of the loan??
