My deadlift is more than double my bench. That closing statement sounds so wild to me.😂 😂

Isn’t he mostly trying to say keep your back and front in balance muscularly? Not to mention having a thicker back makes your bench better because your leverages improve. I think it’s an exaggeration to say your row should be as good as your bench but I think that’s the sentiment

That’s Brian Ashure’ quote. IMO, if you want maximise your bench, focusing on technique and program will get you far but building a big back and triceps will help a lot too

I think one thing we need to talk about is the strength curve of both movements. Bench is very lengthened to mid biased but the barbell row is so much more shortened biased which is why some people cheat it to get better tension consistency

Rows feel so awkward to me I feel like I’m just doing them wrong but maybe I’m just not built for them lol

In my bloatmax form I could do multiple sets of 315 doubles on the bench but could easily row 315 x 10 to my chest. Don’t hate on those of us built for it. Being really good at one lift often comes at the price of sucking at another (I’m looking at you incline bench).

My row generally is stronger than my bench

You should still try to progress your row along with your bench. You need a strong back to stabilize your shoulders so you can bench heavier

I can bench more than I row - good form btw

I work out at home, so I do bent over dumbbell row and dumbbell bench press, my row was 25 kg more than my bench, I have super long arms so I am much better at pulling than pushing, however as I am building myself up after an injury, I might wont get to the weight i flited at the row because my form wasn't that good, however it will be more than my bench anyway for sure.

I honestly think that Pendlay row or seal rows are the best barbell row variations. And there is no way your rowing your bench single with these

I suppose leg guy isn’t the worst thing to call Tom Platz since he was also called the quad father, but you gotta have a better understanding of bro history

Brian Alsruhe used to say in his older videos that he always tried to keep his row up with his bench

Iirc I pendlay rowed more than I benched in the first year of training, but I had terrible bench technique and a wingspan an inch longer than my height xD
