they all hit lats .... in fact if the grip was too wide it would put more emphasis on the upper back and the teres muscles but whether it is wide, neutral or close grip its all LATS ... each grip will have different secondary muscle that target
for example an underhand grip will traget more of the biceps instead of back muscles... along with the lats

Most people in this comment section are so stupid trolling the guy who uploaded the video, while they themselves are "Half right" and have no clue of "Biomechanics".

The Lats have 2 Functions- Shoulder Extension(from the frontal plane to the posterior plane) and the Shoulder Adduction(from Sides).

The first function is NOT targetted by the PRONATED PULLDOWNS aka Wide Grip Lat Pulldown.

It only performs the Second Function, which is *Shoulder Adduction* and it still targets only small upper part of the Lats, it mostly develops the TERES Muscles(Teres Major and Minor).

The SUPINATED OR NEUTRAL GRIP aka Close Grip Lat Pulldown is the one that targets the first function, which is Shoulder Extension.

It can actually also be targetted with PULLOVERS(Hammer Strength, Cable or Dumbbell), as well as Close Grip Rows.

The reason most people think that for Wider Back you need to perform "Wide Arm Pulldowns" is bcz of it has been the default recommendation due to traditional Bodybuilding BS.

Also, Most people perform these Pronated Pulldowns by leaning backwards, that makes their Lats work, if they keep their Torso more Upright with just slight Backward Lean, It will work mostly Upper Lats & Teres.
This Upper Part is the one that gets thick bcz of this Movement which helps in creating an illusion of Strong Lats, when it is not bcz most of the Width is never covered bcz nobody does Close Grip stuff nowadays.

Also, If you do Rows close grip or Pullovers, You'll get good Lats, but You'll give that Credit to Pronated Pulldowns when infact it wasn't even the cause of it.

People here can even see *Real Life Examples:*

Dorian Yates didn't use to do Pronated Pulldowns, he used to do Only Supinated Grip Pulldowns & Hammer Strength Pullovers for it.
He used to do his "popular Yates Row" for Upper-Mid Back Muscles mostly.

And that's it, You can see what his Lats were, I mean, those were the biggest ever probably, like Arnold's Chest.

If Pronated Pulldowns were the cause of Great Lats he wouldn't be able to build GOAT Lats ever.

Here's even a video of SEAN NALEWANYJ where he explained in the end that Lat Pulldown is not actually a Lat Pulldown, it is the Close grip pulldown which is the real Lat Pulldown.

The only time the handle bar really matters is if you’re going to do lat rows, but on lat pulls down it’s simply a matter of preference. I suggest you do your research in advance, otherwise the comments section’s just going to keep spit roasting you 😂

scientifically its shown that a medium width grip is probably the best all around but the wider the more emphasis it puts on upper back and rear delts at the cost of some lat debelopment but its still mainly a lat excersise.u should just do what u like the most and also if u do alot pf shoulder extension do wider grip and if u do allot of should adduction do closer grip

Bruh…. This is what makes people burn out. Do you seriously think your body is only going to use one muscle only to do a certain variation of a lift? No… out muscles are meant to work in coordination. If you wanna change it up sometimes then do that, but lat pull downs target the lats, as well shoulders, biceps, and forearms, period. Stop overthinking and just lift man.
