Unlock Your Lats For GOOD!

try this!

Raise your hands high if you have tight lats! 💁‍♂️Tried stretching? Foam Rolling? Cupping? IASTM? And nothing seems to work? You're not alone! When it comes to gaining USEABLE ACTIVE RANGE OF MOTION, many times you need to follow up your stretching and passive treatments with ACTIVE MOBILITY. Here is one of my favorite active lat stretches I learned from @susanfupt.

Keys to the exercise:

✅ Back and shoulders MUST stay against the wall

✅ Don't arch your back

✅ You must keep you elbows touching the WHOLE time

✅ To increase the stretch, try and separate your hands - while keeping your elbows together!

Note: this stretch is more than likely hitting the teres major as well, which is not a bad thing! I have also seen this performed lying down on a foam roller, which works as well!

Curious on your thoughts about minimum stretch duration of increase in length. Currently a student where our instructors emphasize the need for 20-30s stretch hold for length changes. I realize that there are many different stretching techniques, many of which have likely not been thoroughly studied, so I was curious as to your clinical opinion. Thoughts on active vs static vs PNF or even ballistic? Maybe that's a potential video topic if you haven't already addressed the concept.

Hello, i hope you will reply. I have weird serratus anterior/lats area. It gives me chronic back pain for 14 years. I feel this area is tight and it vibrates a bit when i palpate it. I tryed MFR, stretching, strengthening and nothing works. MFR only makes it feel more sore. And i afraid to make nerve or rib damage. The only things that work is mind work of trying to relax, ASMR videos, long sleeping time and etc. But i can't workaut, after any exercise i start get this discomfort back. So i don't know what should i do.

My right lat is super tender, trigger points. I'm guessing my surrounding muscles are weak?
