I'm less than 2 weeks out from running my 1st Boston marathon and this is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you Stephen!

I needed this video.

I also ran in the SEAA Relays on Sunday & that signalled the start of my taper for Manchester Marathon in less than 2 weeks. Woke up yesterday feeling like absolute death and have been worried that all my hard training over the last few months has gone to waste as I’ve had to take a few days off to rest and shake off this illness.

That mindset is going to do me no favours, I need to remind myself that all my hard work will pay off on the 16th and I will get the sub 2:40 I deserve.

Thanks Stephen!

I did a cycling yesterday and felt crappy 2 days before even losing sleep. Creating stressful situations ahead of time is advice I will continue to follow. Excellent video

Great video! I'm 18 days away from the Krakow marathon. I'm prepared like never before. I trust my coach 100%. I haven't missed a workout in the last 6 months. My motivation is high and I'm confident! I plan to stay with the pacers until 30km and then start speeding up if I feel well.

Thanks SO much Stephen!! 11 days out from my 1st HM, & to be honest, this buildup has felt so different to races in the past. I definitely feel much more prepared, & u have played a big part in that! I’m glad a few of your suggestions I already use. For me on race day it’s a particular song I listen to in my warmup that snaps me into character/gets my armour on. Works for me!!

For me, in the distant past when I did race, the nerves (a sickening sensation of weakness and total unpreparedness) were essential to a good performance. Never ran well when I felt fit and confident in the warmup and earlier in the day. Nerves were worse when i was very fit and knew I was ready to run fast and win the race. It probably came down to a fear of throwing the race away by making a stupid error - getting boxed in. missing the final sprint due to lack of concentration etc - or simply not being willing to hurt enough on the day. These nerves are what distinguished the race from even the most severe training and enabled that 1% extra to come out.

My first half marathon is tomorrow. Been on a 20 week training block. I did a 10k race early in my block and it was rough. For some reason my HR blew up near my max during the first mile even though my pace was what I practiced at. I struggled but still was able to hit my goal and actually run an even split. This race I just need to calm the nerves keep the HR down and understand that I've been here before and have what it takes.

Among all videos I have watched out there, including yours, this one is the video that should be pinned at the highest top! Being a week away from Manchester Marathon, it could not have a better time to watch this. Thanks, Stephen
