This week Reactions gets into the chemistry/science of expired foods and how expirations dates are lying to us.

An estimated 133 billion pounds of food gets thrown into the trash every year in the United States, so understanding when your food goes bad is important to help reduce waste. Unfortunately, consumers can’t just check the expiration date on the packaging, because the listed date rarely coincides with when the food actually spoils. So how can you tell if your food is still safe to eat? This week, Reactions talks food expiration-date misconceptions and gives you some guidelines to answer that age-old question: Can I still eat this?

Expiry dates are useful when buying food but trust your senses when throwing them away. How they have been stored is more important than date

if you want to prevent the oxidation of your avocados and apples (for example) just simply put a few drops of lemon juice on it. I do not know how the lemon stops oxidation but it actually works.

Just calculate how much food you consume, don't buy too much. Throwing out food is a sin.

REACTIONS! First, I love the girl's voice. Secondly, can you guys do a video about Pink Himalayan salt? Is that stuff legit? They say it's healthier than regular salt, but is that true, and if it is true, is it worth the extra cost?

When food goes rotten, use it to bake a cake and give it to someone you don't like. It definitely won't be wasted 😊

There is a song about Dumpster Diving by Danish Punk band Paragraf119 its called CONTAINERRAID, now you know Dansk!! I know someone out there will appreciate this. The rest of you ehh, I don’t care at all. That said, since SARS I am way over dumpsterdiving. Less is more anyhow.

Instead of throwing the expired food in the garbage, you should compost it.

Insects have flown into my dinner plates sometimes, vomit can probably be found in water which may have milk, cheese, soda, or chunks of other foods, madness may take hold of some and rich people go crazy and their food could be turning up in landfills, crime is a problem and around April Fools Day it can be said pranks are a problem and someone's food could be becoming tainted by exposure to hazardous chemicals and spit being out into various foodstuffs
