Lost. What if?

Not knowing where we are, where we are going, or how to get there can be incredibly daunting. It can bring us to a place of worry and anxiety. We can be tempted to avoid the uncertainty and discomfort of the journey. By focusing on God's presence and blessings, we can have the courage to move.

Finally, we also ask you to continue supporting your local parishes. Thank you and God bless you!

yeah I had chronic anxiety because I have ADHD which stopped me from being able to act on things I knew were important. The two things that made my anxiety turn a corner were believing that God wasn't angry at me for failing, and created me with the limitations that I have for a reason, and then being able to discern when those times were happening where God planned for me to act, and I didn't have trouble acting at all. God really does know how weak I am, and He really does love me this way, and He has a plan for my life that accounts for what I can and can't do. Medication helps as well. I'm on long term medication, and I can definitely say my anxiety can be managed much more easily. The thoughts don't continually bombard me, they go away when I solve the problem that brought them up. My anxiety was not at the level where I had panic attacks except for a short period in my life, but during that time, short acting medication was absolutely necessary over and above the long term medication. Nobody deserves to have panic attacks.

I needed this today so much. My wife decided she doesn't love me anymore and is divorcing me and I have been lost. I haven't been able to see past the next few weeks. Any semblance of control I had is gone. I am praying that God will lift me and my children up and show me a path.

I find the hardest challenge in life is knowing when to hold on and when to let go,

I do trust God, and I feel like I've been praying incessantly for His will to be done in my life. But I don't trust my free will...at all. It has led me to do things I have serious regret over...and I am feeling so lost. Please pray for me. 😢

Thank you Fr. Mike I needed this. Badly today. I wrestle with the sin of being double minded- saying to myself and others that I trust Jesus Christ and yet being anxious about what I cannot control, yet in my inner being I know God remains in control.

Wonderful and wise reminders to Trust and give thanks. Wrote down the checklist you proposed: Am I in a state of Grace, Am I doing my daily tasks & Am I praying? Stay blessed, Fr. Mike and thank you for sharing your Light with us. I'm a Muslim poet, married to a practicing Catholic, and after listening to you feel inspired and spiritually enriched. God loves us better and knows us better than ourselves, as you said, today. Amen.

I didn't realize until later in life that being lost is a blessing. It truly is. Oftentimes, being lost can be indicative that you are starting to give up the direction, plans, expectations, demands, and concerns of the world and its conditionings. As if you, unknowingly, had enough and threw the road map out the window. It's a scary feeling at first, because we are conditioned to think we "need" a destination or high bars, but life happens in the present, and you can't be lost when you are present in the moment. Like Jesus said...don't worry about tomorrow...observe the birds and flowers as they live for right now, without future concern. I like using mindfulness meditation for this reason, books like "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels have been nice mindfulness guides for me. It's so important to give up the desire and expectation to not be lost, and to accept being lost...because God's grace is present regardless of being lost.

Thank you Fr. Mike- I’ve suffered from anxiety my whole life mostly due to trauma. Seven years ago - events outside of my control forced me to rebuild my life- despite my anxiety I had to push on- I was able to do so because I knew God was in control and I wasn’t alone - I only had to do my part so He could do His.

I've been dealing with social anxiety throughout my teenage years and now I'm entering adulthood. This is exactly what I needed to hear today.
