"Why Do Low Carb Diets Work?", is a really interesting question, especially when it comes to losing weight. The really simple answer is that in the absence of carbohydrates our body has to look to its own fat stores to provide energy.

But there is more to it than that...

In this video, I'll explain:

1. How low carb diets reduce insulin production in the body
2. How our hunger is reduced on a low carb diet
3. How low carb diets give us a metabolic advantage
4. How low carb diets might help with food addiction.

I was always generally tired. Flabby after eating, it would often make me dizzy. Now with this new diet, I'm fresh and less hungry. My life is now enriched and energized. My intelligence is now brighter and calmer. Thank you for your advice and whiteness, I am very grateful

Your explanation of how hormones work in our body was well done. Too many people focus too much on just calories. I’m on a low carb diet (keto) and do intermittent fasting as well, and I am blown away with the positive effects it’s had on my mind and body. Yes, the weight loss is welcome, but I am pleasantly surprised that my arthritis has all but gone away. It’s so nice to be able to walk pain free again and I just want to share this magic secret with everyone.

This really is a « Way of life » and not a short term weight loss diet. I have been doing this for 4 weeks now, and have lost 4 kilos! It was so easy compared to the calorie restricted diets I had always followed before. And the 16/8 fasting works brilliantly for me. I’m truly amazed, and only wish I had known all these concepts sooner!

From personal experience I have learned that cutting the carbs and upping the protein works everytime. It has never failed me. I eat like shit when lifting weights to bulk up, pizza and ice cream mostly, then I cut the carbs out and watch the fat just disappear. Works everytime for me, very satisfying. Sure cutting the carbs can leave you feeling a little tired and drowsy sometimes, but the reward is worth the effort. I love having a 6pack. My advice is to have a 'Never give up' attitude, and to really believe in yourself.

The more carbs that you consume, the more insulin your body has to create to break it down, which usually results in your body having to hold onto more fat. The less carbs you eat in a day, the less insulin your body has to produce which results in the LESS amount of fat your body needs to hold onto. I learned this in Diabetic Ed when I was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Things like sugary foods/drinks or high-carb foods creates a spike in your insulin which also makes you feel like you’re still hungry which can result in Binge Eating; which is an eating disorder.

I think we should stop calling this a diet.... rather ... A Way of Life..!!

I went on a low carb and gluten free diet on 1 Aug 2020 and I lost 8kg since. I don’t feel hungry at all and i am full of energy all the time. I feel sick looking at cakes and processed foods and have zero cravings for them. Yes whatever the doctor mentioned in this video is absolutely true. Oh and I drink 5 litres of water daily. My skin is literally glowing and soft and smooth.

I’ve been low carb eating for years to keep my weight in check as I get older. I like how you explain the process and decided to share this video on my Facebook timeline in hopes that some of my friends can start educating themselves about what their body is doing when they eat. I’ll probably binge watch a bunch of your videos lol. Thank you for making them.

Under my nutritionist's guidance I went on a low carb diet. Honestly at first it was difficult and I really didn't know what to eat besides chicken breasts and broccoli. But I learned a lot of ways to cook veggies. I'm really happy with this new lifestyle!

I have been Intermittent Fasting for a couple of years typically on a 19:5 or 20:4 fast to feast ratio. I love the life style and It really makes a difference in my insulin levels. But with insulin resistance sometimes our insulin levels don't always drop to the level that non-insulin resistant people's level do during the fasting period. I have found through experimenting that incorporating a low carb plan in addition to my IF has been the key to a healthier life style and weight loss. Just found your channel and subbed right away.

I started a low-carb lifestyle two weeks ago following Covid 19. During the viral infection, I could not eat anything. I have found that now i have gone back to work, I am hungrier. I am adjusting my portions and will let you know how it goes. I do not miss carbs and sugar as much as I initially thought I would and am losing my belly I am pleased to report!

Really good explanation. I'm Naturopathic Medical Doctor licensed in Arizona, US. I've always considered insulin only when dealing with Diabetics. I never put it all together as you have done in this video. I will definitely pass this one.

After years of always being hungry I started intermittent fasting and low carbs on 11/17/20 and this has been a blessing. I now fast for 20 hours-eating window is 4 hours. I drink only water in between without being hungry. Thank you for all your videos and great advice. This is the greatest way of eating forever.

I like your channel a lot. I discovered it this week. I've been consulting a nutritionist since November and she created a plan for me to prevent diabetes/ lose weight. Long story short it's 100g carb maximum daily with greens/ proteins filling up the rest of my food space. I've also been training with a personal trainer since last month.

Anyways your content is very in line with what my nutritionist says. I've had conversations with other trainers before where they just stressed calorie deficit with anything I want within that deficit. Obviously I didn't follow that but it disappoints me to know many trainers exist that are tunnel vision with calorie deficit when it comes to people's meal plans. You have a real shot at improving this person's overall health (iin addition to just body fat %).

Been on a Low carb hi fat diet. Never felt better. I have lost 13 kgs in 3 months. Was not seriously overweight but needed to loose the flab around the tummy area . I go hard on organic butter, Cream, Cream cheese, Bacon with fat, Steak with fat . Veggies. Exercise regular. Drink lots of water . Not forgetting my drop of Whiskey with it . You are 100% correct dan now that I’ve been on this diet mission I am slowly starting to eat less, not crave junk foods and fast for much longer . Amazing journey thus far .Great vid keep em coming .

I’ve been on a high carb diet almost all my life. I’d go to the gym and all and still won’t cut on carbs. Yet, I still feel bloated all the time. I finally started to go low-carb and realised that I get fuller easily with high fiber and high proteins. I have never seen my tummy smaller. I’m almost on week 4 and want to push it more as much as I can.

So easy to understand. I have always struggled with dieting since I was a child and have remained overweight all my life. I am on the first month of low carb . I liked your comment in another video when you said it is a marathon not a race so the occasional lapse is ok and it appears to be manageable in that I can return to low carb without the feeling of dread of returning to a diet. Thank you
