What I usually do when I go this route is just expand without worry. Then when the great Kahn awakens I submit to him and wait for the empire to fall, then I'm free.

It's just a recreation of the Warhammer 40K story

I have no idea why your content has been appearing but I am damn glad it has, you’ve reignited a passion I had forgotten years ago when my friend had this on his computer

I prepared for the contingency, spent hours readying my fleets, defences and upping my research but it still wasn’t enough, they had too many fleets and rapidly spread across the Galaxy.

It was only by the aid of another AI force that I was able to hold the line long enough to regroup and then wipe from existence. I later learned that the AI force whom assisted me did so out of regret, regret for doing as the Contingency had done.

For this I elected to wipe out all AI from the Galaxy

I built a gateway and a habitat with several strongholds and planetary shields in every system. An enemy would have to siege and conquer every system, all the while being constantly picked off by my fleet with a trickster admiral. I was making a surplus of food so I traded that for alloys from every other empire so I could constantly churn out ships.

So when the galaxy was finally invaded by an end game faction, it was stopped in it's tracks in the first system. It made it to 3 more systems before I got it on its last legs and then the other empires united to swoop in and take the final blow.

I wish you could be a gestalt consciousness with this origin. Maybe then you could start as a vassal of the machine fallen empire. Or maybe the militaristic fallen empire.

Its been a good while, but once I did a Machine Intelligence run as a Rogue Defense system heavily focused on research. I themed them as self-learning AI that saw all organic life as the enemy, but carefully bided my time and went to town researching.
Over the course of the game, I made many enemies for being not so friendly. I had wiped out a few empires, and was too ahead to really be put down.
Eventually the Prethoryn Scourge came and started eating away at the other side of the galaxy.
I took this as an opportunity to cease my extermination of the lesser organisms, and began going headlong into the scourge. It took many turns, and many ships, but after a long and difficult war I came out on top and managed to exterminate the Scourge.
Post-Crisis, I acquired another 1/4th of the galaxy, and resumed my extermination of the other species. I think the game ended with over a 1/4th of the galaxy remaining.
What I’m trying to say is, *I became the Contingency.*

Funny thing about end game fleets, they like to use the L-gates. So turn terminal egress into their grave. Couple orbital rings on terraformed nanite worlds, a juggernaut projecting 40% ranger increase and a fully operational citadel with debuff to sunlight speed. Don’t really even need fleet support lol.

I see the ending here as a win, now you do not need to go out of your way to exterminate the filthy xenos by yourself!

This happened to me once. Though i got Zroni precursor. Stacked defensive structures and with that stormcaster even x25 ships die long before they even start shooting back. I could not leave my defensive line. However they could not break in. It was pretty awesome

As the commonwealth of man I’ve taken over 3 enemy civilizations that United against me and formed a federation to invade me, after I stamped out their precious federation fleet, I took every single one of my bordering enemies worlds, then I went through their borders and vassalized most of their nation bordering ally’s nation, the end game event is going to happen soon and I realize I weakened the entire galaxy in my feud with these 3, but I made a powerful ally in the process with strong fleets equivalent in strength to mine, so now that I’ve vassalized 2 large civilizations as long as I have more time I think we can fight off the end game crisis hopefully.

Personally I just played diplomat as humans created a strong economic federation which is now the strongest in economy fleet power and tech in the entire universe with a grand total of 4 useful members rest being subjects.

You got independence in less then the 4000 years required to beat the 50 400K fallen empire fleets, how
