Hey I just wanted to thank you for your video series on flat feet, after some months of these exercises and some trial and error I've been able to fix my flat feet and maintain an arch when I walk. However realizing what was going on and how to fix it took more than just these videos for me, it's been the combination of meditation, yoga and the exercises you talk about. Meditation helped me more mindful and aware of my body and particularly my feet, specifically I realized my ankles would overpronate and collapse in so much that my foot would be a pancake on the ground. Yoga allowed me to see where I had flexibility and tightness and work that out. The feet exercises let me strengthen the muscles needed to keep my ankle in line and support the arch. It's a lot of work and definitely takes time but meditation and yoga have improved my life in so many ways that it was all worth it.

I didn’t know I had flat feet this whole time, it definitely explains why I was a better distance than sprint runner. But more than anything it explains why I periodically got lower back pain, ankle pain, and then it would go up to my spine causing muscle twitches. Luckily I found out about the benefit of minimalist shoes so I’ve been wearing those and it’s so far has helped my bunions smooth away, my foot went up half inch in size because I’ve been wearing the wrong size this whole time. Now to help my arches. Thanks for the tips!

Not sure if a lot of people know this but those of Asian, African and Native American descent have naturally low arches which is normal and doesn't cause problems in those particular races. In fact it improves traction and sprinting ability. The medical community is heavily weighted towards Caucasian anatomy so the assumptions about flat feet, low arches and flexible flat feet are based on the Caucasian anatomy. However, those of Caucasian descent typically run into problems when they do in fact have low arches. Just food for the way this was confirmed by my Podiatrist.

Really nice to hear advice from someone who actually has flat feet! Unfortunately I am on the very severe end of overpronation and suffer badly when i wear shoes with little support. Maybe one day I can achieve the last tip mentioned

I am proud you made this video. I do all these tips at home when I have time. You forgot to add calve raises and heel walks. Also traction (dorsiflexion) exercise with band pulling from behind when dorsiflexiing the foot work extremely well. Also some mentioned that most Asian, African, Native Americans naturally have flat feet. That is statement is not really true. The purpose of the arch is biomechanically designed to act like a spring. Most people including Asian, African, and Native Americans do not have flat feet this is was done by an Anthropology study I read a couple years back. There what is called flexible feet and rigid feet. Most sprinters with flexible feet (flat feet) are more prone to proximal wear and tear then those with a more rigid foot (medium arch foot). High arch feet do cause problems on their own. The majority of people in the world fall into a medium arch foot type.

Interesting video. I also have flat feet, and in part I have solved this problem, mainly by walking barefoot every day. When walking barefoot, the foot flexes naturally (especially when walking on a flat, even surface).

A very genuine and sincere video. Thanks! Keep them coming.

I have flat feet, hope this helps. I also have a tendency to shift my anterior pelvis forward. They're connected, it seems.

Great video. By the way, I saw a comment that you replied to and said "walk with your big toe leading, not the inside of your foot" and that makes a lot of sense, but do you have any additional tips when it comes to walking? I've heard that walking "heel to toe" is bad as well but im not sure. Thanks.

I couldn't understand why people said I had a duck walk 😭😂. Recently my boyfriend pointed out that my ankles seem '' off place''. After a few Google searches I finally found out why! I have flat feet. I never heard of this condition before. In addition to flat feet, my knees point slightly inwards.. I have to many issues to deal with. I'm super thankful for your video. I hope these tips help ❤️

Hello Grown Healthy,
You had some very good, original tips, which I did not see in other videos. What was disturbing was the traffic noise in the background, which drowned the volume of your voice! I do not know if you had clipped the video, because in one excercise you took your socks off, then in the next, you did it again. Perhaps you could prepare the topic by mind-mapping it. Writing what you wish to say in oder of importance i.e. the excercises. For example the toe "massage" as the last excercise because it literally smooths and relaxes the toes and the whole foot, had you gone further. I do not know if you have ever had to do a presentation standing in front of a class... It is very important to keep everyone's attention, to take you seriously. And of course that the viewers do YOUR excercises, and give you a "THUMBS-UP"!
Just saw you have other videos. I DO hope you got better at making them!
Perhaps you could make this one again? What I did like that it was open-air, which could encourage some to excercise the feet e.g. after outdoor sports. All the Best! M

Finally someone with flat feet, giving advice to people with flat feet. I have seen so many high arched people giving advice to flat-footed people. LOL, my issue is that I am not truly flat footed, but have low arches. However, I am not sure if my arches are actually low. I can put a pencil under my weight bearing arch at half an inch before it touches. That may seem pretty good, but my arches are not high enough for my body. I have issues with stiff big toe joints called hallux rigidus which is a condition that can occur due to flat feet. I have also been called flat footed when I'm not really flat. Feet that are more muscular tend to appear flatter than they actually are. The real issue is that most people are not actually flat footed, but the problem is their feet are too stiff from constantly wearing shoes. Your true arch actually forms when you step onto the ball of your foot. So I am working on my flexibility that leads to a more mechanically stable arch. A super high arch is also bad, and this high arch gives the impression that if your arches are not that high, you some how have flat feet. A flat foot will actually collapse all the way down to the ground when standing.

I'm Filipino, and I know that Filipinos are notoriously known to have Flat Feet, but I still play basketball regularly, but having flat feet can hinder your choices in basketball shoes. I wear Kyrie 4s btw. This was REALLY was a lifesaver, THANK YOU, i dont have aching feet anymore
