I could just listen to him for hours. And I have.

The descent into chaos is beyond horrifying. The way out of chaos is in your spiritual practice. As horrifying as the descent is the ascent is spectacular.

This man's deconstruction of reality is mathematical and beautiful to witness.

Dr Peterson just announced the release of a channel called Jordan B Peterson clips. Looks like he climbed the competence hierarchy over Bite Sized Philosophy's dead corpse

Now I have to watch Crumb again. Saw it many years ago. All I remember is my stomach turning.

If I could add a personal favorite for starters I would recommend 'Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis' by Freud. This one got me hooked as a teenager and Freud has such a clear and easy writing style that it is very easy to read (at least it was in German) and fairly easy to understand in relation to the complexity of the topics. It also has a long chapter on dream analysis, so you will have an easier time to get into 'The Interpretation of Dreams' if you start out with this one. It's far from perfect though and not groundbreaking like the others, it's only an introduction after all, but a really powerful one.

Crumb was a top pick from Siskel and Ebert way back when it came out. They knew there was more to it than meets the eye. I watched and have re-watched it ever since. Fascinating for sure.

The books & media Peterson has previously recommended wrestle with immense issues..as I'm sure Crumb does. I'm only 1/4 of the way through the Gulag Archipelago and some days I'm afraid to pick it up. I feel like a bookclub with it on the list would just turn into some kind of group therapy session. When I read it I feel like I'm confronting my shadow so fiercely it drains me and I end up putting it down for another few days. I'm determined to finish it, but some days I can hardly see the point. Anyone else feel the same way?

What I understood *simplified* is that the man who has it all is not the man who's inspiring, it's the underdog story that truly motivates people

That s a really awesome insight. So the main developmental story would be Jesus instead of Oedipus;Mary instead of Electra.

With regards to the Oedipal idea, the Mickey's House of Villains take on the Hansel and Gretel story is pretty archetypally interesting too
