I'm sorry, Peterson doesn't know what he's talking about. The Soviet Union had every trapping of a religious fundamentalist state. They had sacred text that couldn't be questioned. They had a cast of high priests interpreting these texts and telling everyone what to do based on these teachings. They had rituals of worship and submission around sacred people and godlike figures. The Soviet Union was the opposite of a secular humanist ideal.
