20 Min Yin Yoga for Piriformis | Piriformis Syndrome

Where's your piriformis? What is it? The piriformis is a muscle that helps with rotating your leg outward and it lies across the bum area (ever feel that tender spot in the center of your glutes?). For many people, this area is quite tender and sore and can often be directly related to back pain, sciatica and hip pain. Join me for a focused practice to mobilize the tissue around the piriformis as well as make a little space for more mobility and release.

Props: none needed but a blanket or towel might be useful to prop your hips or knees and support you.

Love all the choices and styles of yoga that you offer. I've done the practices for SI joint flare-ups and was wondering if there is a relationship between an SI flare and piriformis syndrome? I wanted to try this piriformis practice but I was afraid that the deer pose might aggravate my SI joints.

First time doing your class, my cats took a cue from your feline and joined me on my mat! They like yin cause you hold the pose for a couple of minutes. I enjoyed it too and will continue.
