8,500-Mile Update in our Long Term 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ

It’s been a couple months since we last brought you an update on our long-term 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ. But that’s not because we’ve been shy behind the wheel.

Quite the contrary actually: Our digital odometer reads 8,500 miles, about 7,500 more since our last plug. We did take it to the dealership about a thousand miles ago for a tire rotation and a software update; but beyond that, we haven’t had to do a thing maintenance-wise.

We’re still finding the 340-mile range to be accurate, but one piece of kit we recently picked up was a charging adapter, converting the LYRIQ’s CCS plug to a Tesla-style NACS port. With the proper software update, this adapter opens up a world of Superchargers for us to enjoy, even further cutting down on any range anxiety.

Not that we feel much behind the wheel…

“The LYRIQ continues to be very pleasant to live with. This is the single motor, rear drive version so we’re not exactly getting thrill-ride-acceleration when we get into that right pedal, but it’s more than enough for this upscale daily driver. Admittedly we still haven’t come around on having to go through the center touch screen for some of the basic functions, but we can’t deny that it does add a certain level of futurism to the cockpit.”

An example of a “basic function” hidden by menu diving is the garage door opener. Things like that may be better left to physical controls, or at least less digital navigation, but that’s about the extent of our complaints so far. Needless to say, we’re rather happy with the LYRIQ.

The Lyriq, at least it doesn't look like a Tesla Y. Very handsome EV!

Fantastic machine. I love my 2024 to death. It is an immense cargo hauler too and able to accommodate almost 7 ft long items with the tailgate closed. Incredible

I own a 2024 Lyriq. My first American car since the '70s. I'm pleased so far, but I too would like to see a re-buttonization of some functions. Especially the glove box.

The Lyriq could be a step in restoring Cadillac to the status of standard of the world ❤

I’m over 20, 000 miles now with my Lyriq 2024 RWD. Love driving it, and usually I’m a GTI or 335i fan. I did learn a lot of how to exploit all its benefits and also in case the system won’t let me drive. Aka conditions not right for driving. Hahaha! Easy to fix.

1:17 when will US manufacturers finally learn that all turn signals, front, side, and rear are supposed to be amber, period? Is it ignorance, incompetence, or an affinity for ambiguous less effective and safe taillights? I don't get it.

Having to go through menus for a garage door opener and glove box does not seem like luxury to me. The interior styling is subjective, but piano black on the steering wheel? That powered charging door looks like it could be a problem down the road. You don’t see powered gas doors because it is pointless and another failure point. There is a Lyriq subreddit on Reddit. It’s not always a super happy place. It does seem they have most of the big bugs ironed out.

here we go again with those bots, but no matter, Cadillac seems to be doing fine, i know people have been complaining about the electrical problems, but you know what? that's fine, stuff happens.

So the range is nowhere near acceptable, and the recharging is obviously the same else it would have been mentioned. EVs still have a long way to go, but at least this one looks nice.

Non universal charger connectors is still an issue.

Did the older guy die? Who are all these new people? Heard a woman’s voice the other day, now this voice isn’t familiar either
