What if you buy new lock and you want to rekey the other locks with the new key?

So you use the key that comes with the set to open the lock to activate the rekeying of the lock, then you put your existing key in after removing the key that came in the packaging, and this is done so you don't have to use the keys that came in the package and still use they keys you already have?
