I can't wait to see this on Lockpicking Lawyer...

This is not a secret. It's just a feature of Kwikset locks.

Use them for rental properties, in case the previous tenant leaves with an extra set of keys they don't return. You can change the key configuration without replacing the entire door knob.

So a lockpick can now not only get in my house, but can change the locks too

As a industrial mechanic for over 35 years I can tell you nothing as I have no idea about locks 🔒. Just wanted to mention I’m a mechanic for 36 years.

As a locksmith I call tell you all the insides are held in with a piece of plastic and these locks commonly malfunction

As a cabinet maker I was aghast at that huge knot in the door where the locks are installed.

This is not for breaking into someone's house people. It's when you want to change the pin configuration inside the lock. It requires that you have the original key, and a new key. This is useful when you have lost a set of keys and don't want your door broken into with the key that was lost. You can set it to a new set of keys, hopefully a new bunch that you have at least three of. It is a feature of the lock, it does not make it any easier to break into these locks.

The "you have three days to move your stuff out" lock.

That knot on the door could not be in a worse spot. One good kick and the door is toast.

Those are for rental properties so you can change the key without changing the lock.

As someone who works with these for a living in New construction, might I add. Don't create excess wiggle while removing and reinserting or else you'll run the risk of throwing a pin off and none of your keys will work. That'll require an entirely different rekey tool that removed the cylinder and reset it back to 0.

These locks are terrible DO NOT BUY THEM. They constantly jiggling to a different key configuration and lock you out. We had them in our rentals and got rid of them in 3 months.

It's a contractor lock, the blue key is given to the construction company to allow them access to the property during construction/ renovation. Once construction is complete they switch the lock over to the owners key, they yellow one. It's a pretty genius way to ensure contractors don't make copies of your house key to use for nefarious reasons later on.

KWIKSET is a low end brand lock used buy cheap builders and landlords.
As a finish carpenter I've installed thousands of Entry Locks and Deadbolts of all kinds.
Deadbolts and entry locks are like firearms in that you don't want a cheap pistol or entry lock set, both are used to protect you.

So secret that it's in big red letters all over the lock box. "Smart Key"

It’s not a secret, it’s a highlighted feature on the box that the lock came in.

It’s the Kwikset smart key lock system. Meant for end user easy rekeying of your house. If you mess up the rekey, just return the lock or buy brand new. Unless you want to deal with itty bitty tiny wafers, you can reset the lock. But you’re better off just buying a new $20 lock. As a locksmith I recommend you stay away from smart key anything. Traditional pin tumblers are still the best way to go. These locks are prone to failure.
