Change your keys, not your locks - Kwikset SmartKey

Whether you move into a new house or kick out your crazy boyfriend, it's important to change your locks in case someone still has a key. If you've got this little slot on your locks, you're in luck! I recently had to have a locksmith out to my business to re-key 21 exterior and interior doors. They were all Schlage commercial brand. If they’ve got that little slot I’m going to be sick… Great video!

I thought this video was awesome!! I had no idea about being able to do that. Sadly though, I have very cheap locks. So first I must invest in more expensive locks throughout my home with the ability to do what you have shown us. That was REALLY NEAT!

I have 5 kwikset exterior door locks. All have individual keys. Can I re-key all door locks to work with 1 key that I choose from my multitude of extra keys? Or do I need to buy the kwikset re- key package? I have the reset tool that came with each lock. Thanks.

Can I use any smart key? I need 6 keys, so if I buy 2 of these sets can I use the key set thing that came with the lock to set keys from this set?

I tried to rekey my new Kwikset set. The deadbolt worked but the regular doorknob did not. Now the key that came with it, no longer works. How do I fix this without your tool? Thanks.

What if you don’t have that but want to keep your old key AND the new door knob (its black versus silver). Can I just switch the innards?

Interesting 🤔 so can you use any extra key you have once you have used the extra ones included with the kit? And what's to stop someone from using a kit to go around changing people locks?
