Ok. Which would you say has better athletic potential on average. World level sprinters or world level weightlifters? If training gait is optimal does it mean humans don’t have to be as strong as weight lifters? I don’t see how progressing gait is as linear as progressing in lifting weights which would get me to assume weightlifting is better over all than improving gait and sprinting faster. Could you make a video on this. Or what percentage of our training should involve traditional movements like squat, bench, deadlift. Do they ever have a place in training. Does the percentage of what you do in the strength and conditioning training depend on what kind of athlete you are?

Seems to make sense. Humans adapted to walk and run as a priority early on in our evolution, stands to reason that the better we get with gait, the better we get a a whole lot of other things

This video is very misleading, it’s like saying when mangoes have a better harvest, you can grill steaks better. The two aren’t related like that.

I don’t think anyone should or does believe running efficiency improves as people gain competency in the squat pattern (gaining strength in the squat is different for other reasons, see below). And people shouldn’t believe someone should use running mechanics as the tool if they need to work on their squat pattern, it’s two different things.

How running improves when incorporating squats (and other leg exercises) are things such as force production, delaying muscular fatigue, etc., and these can translate into improved running which includes delaying technique breakdown (think when getting tired running). There are tons of studies that examines the relationship between leg strength and running efficiency.

Using my marathon athlete as an example, by getting her legs stronger she PR’d her marathon time by over 9 minutes despite running way less miles in “off season” training. She already worked with a running coach for her mechanics for a few years and only saw slight improvement, but why? Because she already had great mechanics.

However, adding almost 7 pounds of LBM primarily to her legs and butt translated to her running improving - therefore the modalities used were functional. We used squats, lunges, deadlifts, plyometrics, etc.

If a runner has horrible mechanics, then yes they should work on that. But it’s likely not improved by teaching them how to squat. If a runner has great mechanics but lacks leg strength, further improving their running mechanics is likely a waste of time and doesn’t get them closer to their goal. But having them squat, deadlift, and do other leg strengthening exercises probably will make them a better runner because of some of the variables I listed above.

Better way to present your view then the vid was.

Do you have a beginner program available to teach us these fundamentals?

Makes sense. My squat was better when I was running.

We're not gonna be weightlifting champions. Why do squats with weights then? I prefer to do functional movement exercises that keep me strong and mobile.

Here’s the scam — to fix your gait, you must fix A, to fix A, B needs fixing, Can’t do B until C, ad Infinitum! Your gait will never be fixed because there’s always something “broken”

Take steph curry one the greatest athelete and he does weight lifting and heavy deadlifts and squats I'm not saying this is trash infact this is a very functional way to train but this is just fancy shit all the exercises like deadlifts, squats, rdls are a way to train our human movements like hinging and squatting

So informative, but not as informative as the educational curriculum behind what this practicioner is discussing. You will have to invest now and the longer you wait, almost like the housing market, you will pay for waiting (with physical degeneration instead of money). 😢
