My dad had a stroke 3 years ago. His speech was entirely affected due to the kind of stroke he had...he has worked so hard the past 3 year going to speech therapy one time a week, just to get him to try and associate his speech more in everyday life..recently we were told that insurance may not allow him to go any further because he has stayed in the same number or scale in terms of improvement. I literally just seen this and now I all I can think about is finding more people to do these words and phrases to make this better..I'm so excited to see the REAL outcome of all of these studies because as someone said on the video, I miss hearing him talk all the time like he used too.. he is my best friend and all you want to do with your best friend is talk about things you use to do, or are going to do. Aphasia and apraxia are a real life changer, if anything to be learned is that without your own voice it's difficult to be yourself.. I hope this really goes somewhere.

But can we talk about how Dmitri learnt to speak English after he was deaf! How insanely impressive is that!

I am by far not the most emotional of people, but Tim's story really got to me. Wow. Caught me way off guard after episode one, such emotive storytelling. Hats off to Alphabet/Google/ALS Therapy Development Institution, what a life changing accomplishment. A moment to remember for Julie and the team, and something to be proud of for the rest of their lives.

I've never cried when watching a documentary. But when Tim's voice got recognized and actually heard his own voice... it got to me.

I had tears in my eyes when AI narrated the letter in Tim's voice and his parent's happiness was priceless 😢😢

“My personal plan is to record as many phrases for them as I can, even if that means I use my last breath for words”

I can’t handle this 😭

I remember Tim when he played for the Bears and Titans, broke my heart to see how quickly his condition deteriorated. But also was touched to see the work they're doing to give him his voice back.

Tim Shaw was strong in one way, now he's strong in another, but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that he is still strong.
All the best to him.

My mom passed away January this year because of ALS. Our family didn't have the money and other means to get her the needed treatment. The last three years were tremendously painful for all of us. Her condition progressed very aggressively and into the second year after the diagnosis, she lost her voice. She couldn't talk, couldn't move by herself and that stressed her out to the core. Wish my mom were granted the access to AI, then being able to talk and communicate. That would have eased her pain and comforted her for the rest of her time. I miss her voice so much. We just happened to be poor and that was it.
