Dances With Wolves (1990)

This is a slightly extended scene where Kicking Bird is accompanied by a group of warriors, including Wind In His Hair, while visting Dunbar. They insist on finding out what his intentions are and if he has goods that are valuable for trade. He politely introduces coffee and sugar to the whole group and trades with them.

When you're meeting new and different people, people like Kicking Bird are the greatest gift you could ask for.

The smile on wind in his hair is a small sign that he is starting to trust his host, something that was hard for him, beautiful scene

This scene is fantastic, when hair in the wind pours sugar, first into his cup, then into the kicking bird cup, before pouring sugar on the others, he looks at Dunbar as if asking for permission, it's simply masterful because beyond what he gave them, he still needed his approval to continue using what was his, is for many reasons my top 5 favorite movies of my entire life.

Sigh. I really love this movie. It isn’t just about the Indians, it’s about people listening to one another and breaking down barriers and assumptions to find common ground.

We could sorely use people like Lieutenant John J Dunbar and Kicking Bird today.

I love when Wind In His Hair just tossed the sugar in Kicking Bird’s cup and he’s like “Omg dude... too much..” 🤣

I have never watched the directors cut. When Wind In His Hair looked over to John to make sure it was okay to share with the rest of them was awesome.

This is a great scene. Not only does it establish the connection between these three men, its humanity is universal. IMO, Wind In His Hair = passion while Kicking Bird = reason. They need each other, given one man cannot be right all the time. LL

I have watched this movie countless times since it was in the theater and I still laugh out loud during this scene. What great subtle acting when he tastes the sugar for the first time.
