Dances With Wolves (1990)

As an act of true friendship, Dunbar and Kicking Bird trade their pipes.

I was thinking about something. Imagine if later on Kicking Bird tries the pipe but it doesn't work at all so he'd be like "oh that asshole" ....lol

This part of the movie is so deep. Where they came from doesn't matter. They are friends. They are brothers. They are family. Never mind that Kicking Bird could be considered his father. You only get a few true friends in life. Sometimes only one. And when you leave them it's a hard thing to do.

I liked how Graham was tearing apart the TP, because of course, most guys have everything in the way until they find it in the end, and the frustration of not finding it until the end was such a relief.

I've owned this movie on DVD for decades. Seen it countless times. Seven academy awards says it all. It simply is the best.

"we've come far, you and me". Adversity to friendship to brotherhood. Love this scene

The characters are so well developed, and we care about them so much that even this simple exchange has a great deal of gravity to it. I hate to jump on the "they don't make 'em like they used to" train, but they don't make 'em like they used to.

What I love about this scene is its not a white man or red man it's two brothers who love each other. There is good in all races and bad.

It's not only giving a present to the dear friend, it's far more. A Tschanupa represents a sacred way of life. They honoured their way of life with deep respect for each other. Very seldom in life to meet a friend on such deep level. A'ho mitakuye oyasin.
