I lowered my lifestyle to the lowest I could take. Saving and investing about 30-40k per year now.

The biggest quirk of being financially fit is that in most cases it doesn't feel like or look like anything, and most peope expect it to and want it to.

A healthy checking and savings balance, being 10 years ahead of the curve on retirement savings, having "f you" money, having little or no debt, having the things you need, the ability to say yes to that spontaneous vacation or concert, nothing of that "looks" like anything, though it feels comforting and is less stressful for sure. But it can be a subtle thing to recognize when you're doing quite well because there's no material item to measure it by. This is what the FIRE movement refers to as "the boring middle". It doesnt look special but nothing could be farther from the truth.

Having control of your finances is having a spouse who’s like minded. Two incomes from two people with the same financial goals is a unstoppable force!

7:37… they may be simple achievements or baby steps but no one starts running immediately. You must first crawl then walk then jog… this is the tough part where you need to stay disciplined!

Don’t take those baby steps for granted it’s hard for me to think how far I’ve come the last 2 years let alone the last 5 or 10. Keep stacking the little wins in life and you will be amazed at what you can accomplish:)

I suck at saving outside my retirement accounts so I made a big commitment to invest 16 percent into my retirement account! (My job offers a normal 403b and a roth so I do 8 in both)

So my husband and I are doing just fine in our single income household with our kids.
It is difficult not comparing yourself to others though.

I was destitute once, I mean almost homeless
That was 10 years ago and I'm doing well now but I can't buy "stuff " I want. If I do buy something that's not a necessity I feel guilty and take it back for a refund
It sucks to be this way but I'm terrified of being destitute again

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

I needed this, I had a £1000 car repair bill 4 months ago (paid 250 for 4 months) and had a 450 bill a few days ago which I paid and just didn't save this month. I was getting really down on myself but need to realise most people would've had to get a loan for it etc

Once I learned basic financial ratios my life has greatly improved. keep housing costs under 25% of your net income, keep consumer debt below 10% of your net income, and invest some of your income, even if just. a small percentage. All of these simple things will greatly increase happiness in your life.

Roughly $120K in my portfolio are in tech/TSLA stocks, can I get an advice on any other stocks that I can acquire to diversify my reserve across multiple markets while creating a comprehensive portfolio allocation that balances my concerns of risk aversion and returns that meet yearly inflation.

My needs are few and I can usually satisfy them for either free or almost free. What could be better than that?

I’d be retiring or working less in 5 years, and considering this financial recession, I’m curious to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around $250K per year but nothing to show for it yet.
