Russia Fears Chinese Invasion

Leaked documents from earlier this year reveal that Russia is deeply worried about Chinese aggression and how they might use nukes to deter them. Russia has taken note of China’s expansionism and thinks that they could make a move on their eastern borders. Last year, Russia exercised nuclear capable missiles twice in regions bordering China. Their leaked plans describe launching nukes at Chinese troops in Russian territory as a last ditch effort. It also unveiled the low Nuclear threshold that Russia has. With the destruction of 20% of Russia’s strategic ballistic missile submarines, 30% of its nuclear-powered attack submarines, or three or more cruisers - triggering a nuclear response. Russia only has 11 ballistic missile submarines so that would mean destroying two would hit that 20% threshold. With Russia weak and distracted in Europe, China may see a real opportunity and with their growing nuclear arsenal, Russia’s nuclear threats might look less like a deterrent. So much for that friendship without limits.
