The China/Russia question or to put it another way, the Democracy vs Autocracy debate is one that has been looming for the last 20 years.
The situation in Ukraine and numerous other countries, Afghanistan and Myanmar to name a couple are strong indicators that solutions to the complex problems facing humanity in the 21st century (which are wholesale and have no borders) are beyond the capability of our institutions to even fully contemplate and comprehend, let alone resolve.
Neither Democracy nor Autocracy as we see them today have the answers. I think this is now apparent. However, having said that Democracy is conducive to the propagation of ideas that have the potential to bring about lasting change and in a way the autocratic problem is like a bodily pain that is playing its part in the realisation of the need for, and instigation of, that change.
In that respect, Democracy is only better in that it does largely prevent (in countries that adopt it) religious or otherwise ideologically fanatical regimes from imposing on humanity an authoritarianism that is contrary to the ideals that one would wish for as a foundation for world peace and general well being, both of body and mind.
Ultimately and in essence, we are all victims of the past to some degree or other and the severity of that degree is simply an excuse to excuse our own misunderstood or incomprehensible failures and make them seem negligible in comparison to a more extreme example. Ultimately, gene expression or epigenetics is and will be the deciding factor in any lasting resolution to the woes of humanity and that of the planet we call home.

You do not need 'no fly zone' over the whole UA... Lviv region on the west of UA will suffice... simply put a couple of Patriot batteries near Przemysl in Poland and there you have it... no planes needed over UA sky...

Notwithstanding the CPC, the people of China are more willing and ready to join the International community than those of Russia... I actually think it possible that Russia will remain a pariah nation even as China become more global....

Beijing is so stuck. But I hope China will limit Russian purchasing power for military goods.

Hitler did the same in WW2. Other nations didn't help the first 2 lands Hitler conquered. Many people died.

He had “Nazi” newspapers portraying Germans as innocent victims of global evil. The German press alleged Czechoslovak atrocities against Sudeten Germans.. Hitler denounced Czechoslovakia as being a fraudulent state in violation of self-determination..

In 1938, Chamberlain, Britain’s Prime Minister, signed a Peace Treaty with Hitler that Germany could invade Sudetenland, but no more. Czechoslovakia lost 70 per cent of its iron/steel industry, .. Chamberlain thought he had created “peace in our times, ” but he was wrong. The very next year, Germany invaded Poland, and World War II broke out.

Characteristics of Hitler: Authoritarian. Does crackdowns on dissidents and/or free press. Promotes fake news. Expansionist.
