NATO gave their 2024 estimates for member defense spending and 23 member nations meet the 2% guideline with the remaining 8 members all showing progress towards reaching that 2% guideline. Putin has traveled to North Korea and might announce a deal giving China control of the Tumen River so China can develop and use it to their benefit.

"Our country is surrounded by enemies." You did this to yourselves. You could be surrounded by allies, if you knew how to act like civilized humans.

Never trust the words of your enemies. Trust their actions.

I remember watching a video close to the start of the war where it theorized getting help from China and Russia giving up territory to pay. Interesting looking back now.

OMFG Luxembourg is improving their defense spending by triple that means they're going to build three tanks this year!

Jake, I just wanted to share a vignette. I'm a long time subscriber and follower of your channel, and am so grateful for the work you do to keep us informed and engaged on the plight of Ukraine and it's fight for freedom, independence and democracy. I work in refugee resettlement in Australia, and this week is Refugee Week here. I attended an event yesterday showcasing the stories of refugees who've settled in Australia and made our country their home. One of the speakers was a Ukrainian woman who fled Kharkiv early in the war, and managed to escape with her two teenage sons. Her mother remains in Ukraine, and after service and injury in the military, her husband managed to come to Australia too. Her story was so impactful and so raw, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Both her and her husband have found work here, and her children are in school. In the 18 months she's been here she's learned to speak English fluently and her sons are performing excellently in high school. I spoke to one of her sons who sang a traditional Ukrainian for us (wearing a lovely Vyshyvanka), and his number one goal is to get a good education and return to Ukraine to rebuild once the war is won. Really moving stuff and such an important way to humanise the plight of Ukraine and Ukrainians. The long and short of this message is this: If you feel helpless and don't know how to support Ukraine, go meet some Ukrainians who've resettled in your country. Hear their stories. Get involved in their community organisations. Help them with work, finding housing, tutor them in your language. There's so much we can do :)

"Our country is surrounded by enemies" translated to Real: "We have made enemies of all the countries that surround us."

Thank you for your work! It's great to hear that there is someone out there who thinks exactly like me and understands the situation very well!
Please continue your work and explain the situation to the Americans and others, so that there is also an understanding of the situation.
Greetings from Latvia.

Were there more "little green men from Russia" who were attacking the Kiev airport back in 2022?? Ukrainians defended it & took back the suburbs by the skin of their teeth & their valiant struggles!! Maybe only if the Russians retreated to the EASTERN side of the URALS & stayed there forever, would their European neighbors feel safe in the future!!

Russians saying now that they didn't want to capture Kyiv is like the Japanese in 1943 saying, "We didn't want to knock out the US fleet at Pearl Harbor"

I saw the thumbnail and title and immediately started giggling and laughing, because that is absolutely absurd, I wouldn't have ever guessed that Russia would _actually_ need to do this, let alone that they would ACTUALLY DO IT

Awesome analyses Ms. Applebaum—especially how their end goals are strictly a strategy to self-serve and hold captive their citizens and maintain their extreme wealth. This is a perspective that needed to be exposed—thanks for the clip Jake! Slava Ukraini 🇺🇸🇺🇦

Huh, sounds like somehow they failed to tell a third of their army what their goals were when they started the full-scale invasion. The paratroopers who landed at Kyiv's airport must be upset that they weren't told it wasn't actually an objective.

Solovyov is very convincing: "What we tried to do was stupid, therefore we didn't try to do it" :-)

Russia selling land to China is like that guy that took one of my trucks from my yard some years ago, then agreeing to sell it back to me years later while calling me buddy.
