Maybe you should make an emotional first aid kit, you give really good advise and it would be great to actually have products aimed at mental health done by actual psychologists...

Yeah the School of Life is much more philosophically focused, for better or ill, and offering philosophical advice seems how their "first aid kit" functions. The "I'm so lonely" card, for example, was meant to give comfort by reminding the reader that loneliness is a universal human condition, and that is meant to alleviate any existentialist angst. Caveat emptor.

Thank you for your review!!!
I have fibromyalgia and suffer from difficulty with sleep. My doc gave me OTC helpful tips as well as the typical tips people get from a med pro. I kinda wish pros like you would create a product like this... especially to encourage people to find help outside of themselves. We l need more accessible science. Your psychological first aid video was fantastic.

I love the concept and it's something I've been creating for myself. In my journal, I've been putting sticky notes on the inside front and back covers. Some have grounding exercises for my anxiety/ptsd flashbacks and others have quotes that I like: either ones that remind me of the universality of my feelings or ones that actually uplift and encourage me. I also keep happy pictures and mementos in there to cheer me up. I always keep my journal with me, which is comforting because I know I have different tools in there to help me if I get overwhelmed.

Thanks for another great video!!! You're awesome!!!

I love the school of life ! Their candles are just the best thing! Originally they are a group of psychotherapists. They also do workshops and so on in London (I've never been). I think I recall they represents different schools of psychotherapy. They make youtube videos which are great and then they make the design products too. They are about concepts and philosophies rather than self-help guides so people who seek the latter aren't they target market. They want concepts and philosophies of psychotherapy to be more widespread to the public hence the videos etc. The consultations fees they offer are on the high-end spectrum of London and I would say the products like the one you have is targetted for those who are in therapy with them (and therefore address those ideas) and professionals in the field of psychotherapy. A lot of their writing fits with Gestalt or phenomenology for example.
Therefore they don't come from a behavioural approach to things. They are not researchers and you don't necessarily need a psychology degree to become a psychoanalyst for example or another school of psychotherapy (providing you still fit their requirements of entry). I studied art psychotherapy and it's very different than academic psychology. Degrees in psychology in the UK never teach counselling skills, empathy and the need for personal therapy so as to avoid transference with the people you work with. Whereas psychotherapy schools will do so. My school was all experiential so you learned by constantly being the client or therapist. I also learned how psychotherapeutic and philosophical concepts are now backed up by neuroscience which supports the knowledge of empathy and plays therapy for example.
Psychotherapists and clinical psychologists are incredibly different here in the UK. The former prefer expressions of the self and the inner world, safe space to explore said emotions and to dive deeper to gain true awareness (the changing Gestalt paradox of change is inevitable when you accept where you are/are aware of yourself in the present) while the latter favours research and studies to implement generalised behaviours to do or not do, and to focus on the surface problem (behaviour) by focusing on the thoughts patterns (use of CBT for example).

Personally, I'm for a mix of both. 🙌

1. Been following for awhile. Super into this channel still.
2. This organization is awesome.
3. I'd love to hear your thoughts over becoming an LCSW who works from within their house?

It would be super cool if you made a video on tips for new therapists or if you made a video talking about Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. I'm going to be a behavioral therapist in the next month or so.

I prefer Dr kirk Honda in psychology in seattle because he still respects the person or organism or the ideas that he reacts too without us feeling like he's belittling the subject he's reacting to and I'm sorry but this is how I felt about your video..
I respect the people who respects the work of other people and still give their honest 'respectful' opinion and not making fun of their work and belittling it..
The concept of the school of life is different than a psychological 'only' approach and they've done a lot of helpful work for a lot of people through their videos, games books etc..
We do not all work the same, so each one of us finds what soothes him and it does not make one thing bad and the other one better.

unique + interesting concept but could it be a little too complicated for someone who's looking for a little kick in more challenging times?
