I became type 2 diabetic in 2021. I refused meds and said I would change my diet and that's what I did. I reversed it 4 months later. I lost a lot of weight quickly. I only eat food I make myself. At the beginning my body and brain were in a battle but I stuck rigid to it and eventually my body and brain clicked into sync. My body now looks amazing and I feel fantastic. The only treat I eat daily is a homemade flapjack and I make a batch of one week's worth. Weirdly my eyesight has improved, but here is the kicker. This is a lifelong dietary change, it's not something I can dip in and out of and it takes discipline. I don't crave sugar anymore, but I feel like a 25 year old in a body that now only looks like the body of a 25-30 year old in peak physical form and I'm 59. I keep a photo of myself on the fridge to remind myself how I used to look. It's a great motivator to keep on track. Exercise wise, I walk just 20 minutes a day at a fast enough pace to get my heart rate up. Now I do intermittent fasting and don't have breakfast until mid morning and don't eat after 8pm. All I can say is it's like I have shed the body of an old avatar and I am in a new fresh body full of energy. It's like I have been reborn.

My Oncologist said I need to keep my potassium levels up for treatment and recommended Banana's or coconut water I mentioned that they were not considered good for diabetics he laughed and said "yes it is a catch 22 situation" then he said "you have to live your life"(I'm eating Banana's and drinking coconut water)😊

Type 2 Diabetic here: nobody seems to talk about the benefit of drinking lots of water 💧. I went from A1c from 8, 9 to 5, 8 in 3 months. Aiming for 4, 7 by this Christmas 🎄.

Dietitian here. Bananas are a tricky food, because when they are greenish they are low on the glycemic index and rich in resistant starch and prebiotic fiber, which help slow down the absorption of the sugar. But the more ripe they become, the higher the glycemic index. Also if you balance fruit or any carbohydrate with protein and/or fat helps with blood sugar regulation.

Fruits contain sugar so my take is to eat the above list in moderation and have a life style of regular excercise

30 years with diabetes, 77 years old, I eat and drink every fruit, bread, and rice, ice cream etc ....even sometimes a little bit of sugar cane. Almond chocolate is my favorite snake. My blood sugar level in the morning normally, 3 to 4 which is extremely dangerous but I drink soft drink to manage it but in the evening the reading is about 13 after dinner which is also no good. But what can I say this is the routine now. On the other hand when I am working, all day my sugar level stays between 5 to 6. I take 17 units insulin and 2 metformin every day, but sometimes I take only 10 units of insulin if level goes down. Sometimes I think I should retire now and stop working but . Last week I built a beautiful shed in the back yard 13x16 installed 2 staircases, did all plumbing work, installed pot lights, laid laminate floors and painted the house as well, looking for another project now. Or should I retire????
Don't know

My Mother had type 2 diabetes. She lost an eye, had foot amputated, and was on dialysis when she died. I want to be here, and active for my wife and family. I was a 14.0 A1C and latest A1C was a 5.6. I eat very few carbs and walk 4 miles a day and that works for me.

I have blueberries, and a apple every day. Plus I eat a banana, little on the green side. I have dark almonds and some butter snaps pretzels. My glucose is always around 100 or so when I'm home from work. And I have my coffee and water. On the weekends I wreck myself. That's a whole other problem to contend with.
