Anger is often misunderstood as simply a bad or destructive emotion, but it actually plays an important role in how we respond to challenges, threats, and injustice. This video takes a closer look at what anger really is, why it happens, and when it becomes a problem. Whether it’s triggered by unfair treatment, day-to-day frustrations, or deeper emotional issues, anger can be both a helpful signal and a destructive force. When anger is frequent, intense, or lasts too long, it can damage relationships, interfere with work, and even worsen mental health. Understanding the psychology of anger helps uncover the real causes behind why we feel so reactive in certain situations. Is it unmet expectations? Is it stress, hunger, or another internal state pushing us to the edge? Or are we dealing with deeper issues like depression, anxiety, or trauma? By breaking down the external and internal triggers that contribute to anger, this video offers a deeper understanding of what really fuels those powerful emotional reactions. Recognizing that anger itself isn’t the problem, but how we interpret and express it, is key to managing it in healthier ways.

So little evidence-based and useful videos out there on anger. Thanks for this great video. I'll be sharing with some of my clients/patients.

Good to think about emotions in this thoughtful and somewhat detached way. And to realize that strong emotions are not a moral fault. And that emotions can be distinguished from thoughts and actions. That little triangle illustration in another video was helpful conceptually in this way. I think of wrath as anger that is cultivated and non productive for one's self and others.

super helpful video! thank you!! i’ve been catching myself experiencing anger more frequently since i quit my addiction to marijuana (anger was present before but smoking was a major coping mechanism) 35 days ago. this video and talking points are extremely useful and are already aiding me in identifying whether these spots of anger are helping or hurting certain situations. i really liked the point you made about how anger is meant to address something but that it isn’t conducive to a situation or your physical self to sit with for a longer period of time… makes so much sense when phrased that way and will hopefully help me snap out of angry moments in the future.
looking forward to the next video!
