HAVING CONFIDENCE ON CAMERA (& Losing the Nerves FOR GOOD)

Being on camera can be extremely nerve-wrecking. It’s many people’s greatest fear. I know it’s weird hearing yourself talk and watching yourself on camera, but if you want to excel in this digital space, it’s almost mandatory that you gain comfort on camera.

So, after many years of on-camera experience as a host and journalist, I’m sharing some tips that I’ve never heard anyone share on how to warm up to the camera! Sometimes you gotta fake it till you make it. ;)

// IN THIS VIDEO I SHARE:

1. Tips on how to prepare before recording
2. Gestures to make yourself APPEAR confident (despite how you feel)
3. Hacks on practicing with your phone

1:10 BREAK THE ICE WITH CAMERA
2:12 SMILE TALK
2:58 AMP UP THE ENERGY
4:51 PREPARE
5:34 WATCH OTHER VIDEOS
6:40 TRASH
8:11 START WITH SELFIE VIDEOS

These are such great tips.
LOVE POINT number 3

Amp up your energy.

That was an amazing point.

It's true your confidence is there in your videos.

I also use the HONEST Framework I've created to help me structure my videos.

I draw it out on a A3 paper and place it on the wall behind my camera. This keeps me organised and structured on what I'm saying. I get more confidence using this. 😊

125% of yourself - great advice! I didn’t want to fake my personality and be super peppy but this makes sense that my natural “chill” personality doesn’t read well on camera lol

I am naturally a more energized and optimistic person..until I turn on the camera :/ then I seem so bored or monotone..and I think I struggle most when doing a voiceover...Tfs, great advice..I'm going to try to implement these tips

Omg girrrlll you just described me😭I didn’t know what to do & know the problems, so I started practicing like you said, I used to talk right away & sometimes ended up not talking at all & instead do a voiceover. Right now I’m getting more comfortable because I practice & tried to film everyday or take videos on Snapchat this helped me a lot. like you said using “umm, but, so, like” I used those words alooott on my video & it was getting annoying when editing, I’m getting better now. I wished I found you before I started my channel, I learned everything on my own & learned from my mistakes. I love doing YouTube, I get excited making videos. Thank you for these tips💖this is 💯 real you won’t understand till you become a youtuber. Before uploading a video on my channel I let my sister watch & rated first, this help me to be more confident & tried to have a full sentence without cutting parts out because I have a judge (my sister)
I’m also bilingual English is my third language.

Girl EVERYTHING you said was true. I deleted like 10 videos in 1 year cause they were kinda awkward and I kept the good ones.. Also..somebody gave me that same advice last year to talk to myself and I looked at her crazy, lol. It works tho.. But yea.. practice does make perfect.. great video!
