Friendly Opossum

I have cats and I aways leave cat food on the porch for them and aways keep the door open and for the past few weeks I have been seeing opossums on there and I found a friendly one that doesn't mind when you pet it I hope you enjoy the video!

We have a possum in my old neighborhood named Pancake. Pancake got hit by a car, BAD. Someone took pancake to the vet. A few weeks later pancake was back in the neighborhood, missing his left rear leg and had a big gnarled scar on his back. He was a big sweetheart even after all that. He was nice to the other animals in the area, never started fights with animals, and was gentle enough to hand feed. Miss you pancake.

Opossums are amazing animals they can't carry rabies (almost impossible due to their body temperature) and can withstand over a hundred venomous bites from a rattlesnake. I've rehabbed and lived with opossums collectively for 5 years. Best animals in the world. Super sweet. Please don't hurt them. When they hiss that's a bluff. They're harmless and such a boon to the environment they eat over 4 thousand ticks a year. Their presence is a gift. Respect them and they will respect you.

Opossums are so good for gardens and yards… They pick up rotten stuff and snails and even scare away rats or mice. I wish more people learned positive things about these cute creatures )

I have a possum who visits my house. He stinks but hes very friendly. I'll pet him awhile and give him some cat food n then he will waddle away. So gentle n sweet. Such a misunderstood animal.

She's adorable. I love how they become so gentle so quickly. I have a momma with babies I took in that was beat up. Some farmers were going to kill her for eating all their eggs. Which you can't blame them. But they knew I love them so they trapped her and gave her to me to set free on my property. But she had all sorts of scrapes and scratches. So I got them healed. Now we are waiting for the babies to be big enough to wean. And will release all of them together. They are so easy to fall in love with.

They're wonderful animals. They eat ticks that carry Lyme disease and they are immune to rabies.

Met a handful of feral virginia opossums twp years ago. They put on the best show, but they chill when you start petting them. Adorable little ones.
