Opossum are very gentle marsupials. The only native marsupial in North America. They don't carry rabies and they only have about a three year lifespan.

They rarely carry rabies, their bodies aren't suitable for the virus to live in due to their low body temps. If anything they help keep places disease and virus free by eating the bugs that cause them.

Thank you for being kind to the opossum. They are sweet creatures. Looking to stay warm. I have one that comes and sleeps inside one of the cubicles I have my my stray cats. The noise scared the baby. Don’t scream or make loud noise. You can easily scoot them out with soft nudging from a broom.
