They used to scare me, but I read about them, and now I have a different view on them. One night I saw one outside eating from the same plate as the outdoor cats. They deserve to live too and they get hungry also. Please don't kill them. They won't hurt you, they're just passing thru looking for something to eat. We have to eat, so do they.

Possums really are the easiest wild mammals to keep as a pet due to their nature, you can have an untamed possum. You can just avoid getting bit and keep your friend forever. It’ll get used to you

As you can see they are docile. The only form of protection is to hiss and show teeth. They rarely bite. Beneficial to our world. They have been around since the dinosaurs. When you see one. RESPECT them. Feed them. Love them.

They have one heck of a scary look and growl in order to scare off any animal posing a threat, but in reality, they're some of the most docile creatures you will come across.
Yet still proceed with caution as they often carry babies and there's always that one exception to the rule.

I rescued a baby one recently which was curled up against a garage door next to a main road 😢 it was so scared it didn’t even unfold out of its little ball when I picked it up with my jumper. Took him / her straight to the vets, such a gorgeous animal. ❤

I have a small kiddy pool behind my garage that i throw my household garbage in. I have 6-7 opossums that come every night. They are cute as hell

I love them, but each has its own personality. Food, water and compassion is the best gift you can give them. Yes they are docile, but I have had ones that nip, and wild one that didnt, so always be faster to remove your hand, because they are kinda slow.
Also if you see one in the road and confused, please pick them up firmly by the scruff of the neck and base of the tail and put them on the grass closes to the woods. The smell of asphalt confuses and overpowers them as they rely on smell and have bad eyesite and they go around and around, especially the older ones.
Also please stop and pull one that has been hit off the road. First its not fair for an animal, any animal to get hit over and over before they die. Also by moving them off the road you help another to not feed and get hit. Thank you 🧡

I petted one the other night. It was hissing but never bit me. I was so happy to pet him. My husband came outside and told me to come in because something bad was going to happen, nothing bad happened.💕💕❤️
