We’ve all heard the term, “knowledge is power, ” here is knowledge in action. Opossums are NOT aggressive, even though they look very terrifying. Their open-mouth, defensive hissing is only a bluff to try to look vicious, if that doesn’t work they will play dead because they’re scared. Rarely do opossums bite people. You can hear one customer shouting that it has rabies, however, opossums rarely ever contract rabies. An opossums body temperature is only 94° to 96° and that’s too low for the rabies virus to survive. So keep your distance, they are a wild animal, just know that they’re not the vicious animal they’re pretending to be.
