Former oneness Pentecostal that renounced the heresy and now a catechumen in the Orthodox Church. Jay blocked me awhile back when I was a Protestant. If he only knew how much his videos helped me find the Orthodox Church.

We quit the Baptist fold after it became clear to us that no one on our "Church campus" (seriously! lol) could explain actual Baptist doctrine to us: Who is Jesus? What does that mean? What is the Trinity? How?

Our journey to Orthodoxy began when in ONE conversation with a SubDeacon, ALL our questions were answered clearly, coherently, and consistently. We had been wrestling with these things for some time - but coming home to the true Church just made understanding easy, compared to the dazed, confused, confounded fog of Protestantism.

That was the beginning of our catechism, that same day.

My Protestant friends seems to skirt dangerously close to worshipping the Bible as a living god. Some of them sound neo-Islamic in their approach to the Bible-as-God's-Living-Word, rather than an ICON of God's living Word.

Orthodoxy is just beautiful. Thank you.

The truth humbles you, I’m not even a member of an Orthodox Church yet and I can see the fullness that it brings, no more wondering “am I doing it right”. I don’t have to figure it out, just follow the path that has been made for us by those who came before. The church has always been there and it takes some humility to be able to accept being wrong over and over, getting closer to the truth before you make the real commitment to the life of the church, which is participating in the life of Christ. I look forward to being able to experience the mysteries and be more honest with my relationship with God. I’m so glad God created a perfect system for maintaining the church in the world, I would feel so much more lost without it. Hallelujah ☦️

My wife, kids, and I have not started catechism classes yet but we’ve been there attending the Divine Liturgy and without even receiving communion yet, we have felt so full spiritually. I’ve left church every Sunday just feeling full. I don’t know any other word for it. I’m exceptionally eager to learn and get baptized into the one holy apostolic church! Glory be to God that He has led me here!

I continue to believe that the crux of protestant refusal to accept Orthodoxy as the one true faith is their lack of recognition for the profundity of Pentecost vis a vis the theanthropic implication. There seems to be a cognitive disconnect between the Church being God on earth (as per the Holy Spirit descending upon the apostolic college) and the lack of protestant Christian obligation to make oneself answerable to that manifestation. I can say that when I was a protestant the profundity of Pentecost went right over my head. I was simply taught to think of it as a very miraculous and interesting “wow” event in the history of the faith.

This was from when Jay went on Sam's channel and had a 2 part session deconstructing Protestantism and Calvinism. It was really good.

My Protestant friends are left speechless when I start telling them "well, I don't think the Old Testament is canonical. It doesn't seem relevant. And Revelation and Romans seem out of place to me. I just use the Psalms, and the Gospels, and the Letter to the Ephesians. And the Gospels are clearly corrupted, in some spots, so I pray constantly, and the Holy Spirit has guided me to just use only the yellow, highlighted passages in my NIV bible."

Great point about the Bible being a liturgical book rather than just a personal devotion book.

I grew up non-denominational loosely episcopal or Lutheran. I had never heard of Calvin but that sounds like the worst.

Jay thank you so much for keeping these videos going! Protestant nutjobs are getting sillier and sillier everyday!

Also, your point about idolatry is something I've been coming to. Idolatry is primarily a disposition of the heart, not merely an outward act. That's another piece that Protestantism doesn't really grasp.

E.g., we consider the Bible as an icon. Like you said.

May you address James B Jordans book The Litergy Trap?

By your own admission elsewhere, mainline denominations didn't just fall on their own. They were (at least in part) pushed.

The more I study about the differences between western and eastern Christianity, the more I come to realize that western Christianity, and especially Protestantism, is essentially Gnostic in its DNA.

I am very curious now the very terminology i used just the other day for looking at what the fathers believed was not “reinventing the wheel” and then jay uses it the same way before ive seen this footage

How was the NT cannon compiled? Didn't the church discern and debate?
