3 Supplements I Would NEVER Take as an ND #shorts

Dr. Janine shares three supplements she would NEVER take as a Naturopathic Doctor. The first is high doses of synthetic vitamin C. This has been shown to increase the risk of kidney stones, especially in men. The second is high doses of vitamin E. Dr. Janine explains how high doses of vitamin E have been shown in research to cause a higher risk of heart failure, especially in diabetics and people with vascular diseases. Lastly, Dr. Janine explains why she would NEVER take folic acid as a Naturopathic Doctor. She talks about how this is NOT the same as folate, which is naturally found in foods and has scary side effects.

My husband is on high dose vitamin C infusions for leukemia, along with glutathione. It’s actually been shown as an effective treatment. It’s kept his high white blood cell count in check and he’s been able to reduce the amount of chemo he’s had to take 🤷🏻‍♀️

What type of vitamin e are you referring to? Tocotrienol or tocopherol? Also are you only going by ONE study? Can you please give the link to the study? What is considered a high dosage of vitamin e according to that study?

If it ends in the word "acid" it is synthetic; if it ends in "- ate", it is natural.

The are so many studies for and against this and that supplement.
You can always find a study that agrees with you. Crazy.

Is folic acid safe? At this time, folic acid taken at or up to the recommended amount of 400 micrograms per day (mcg/day) has not been shown to be harmful. Additional information continues to be assessed as it becomes available. The benefits of taking folic acid are well established.

I don't understand very confusing this is what came up when I googled is folic acid safe???

Folic acid is the only thing I've found to take down the inflation in my mouth from coffee... Don't drink it anymore... Was told it's the acid I'm having a reaction to...

Is the vitamin E synthetic or natural in that study? I was reading about harmful effects of synthetic E (dl-) at least 20 years ago. Basically all synthetic vitamins seem to come with problems. I feel like this should be talked about more. Form matters!
