The book by Cpl. Forrest "Goody" Guth: 'E' Company, E 506th PIR published in 2002 is a really good resource with pictures on just how fierce this fight scarce book now, I just happened to get it at a used book bookstore by happenstance a few years ago. E 506th and the 6. FJ Regiment fought bloody and even hand to hand knife fights in several instances in the area.
The dead from both sides were collected and put in horse carts together by the French civilians to take to US graves registration.
The fallen departed the battlefield in unison.
