After D-Day, McGrath was awarded the Silver Star. He was one of a very few members in E Company that never got hit.

I met and spoke with a veteran several years ago. His outfit was usually out front with the standing order to “draw enemy fire”. Imagine that?! He was a bazooka rocket carrier, and was still bitter about the failure rate. Anyway, to kill a tank he said you first had to live long enough to get close enough to do any damage, which was a feat in itself. Then you needed a perpendicular shot to the drive sprocket. He was always nervous when he saw the tank’s porthole cover slam shut, which indicated he was spotted.

I do like the attention of detail of him struggling to connect the wire from the rocket to the electrical trigger. This was a big waste of time in combat, which was one of the major factors contributing to why they made the electrical assembly self-contained (more or less) on later variants of the Bazooka.

Great upload as always, Johnny. Merry Christmas all!

Welsh is probably one of the finest officers in the Airborne, brave enemy fire and went head to head with a tank alongside his Bazooka-man

Imagine if you disabled a tank in the middle of an open battlefield and then successfully ran back to your squad… I’d feel like a complete badass

Imagine the adrenaline after hitting that StuG and knowing it actually stopped it.

"You're going to get me killed Lieutenant!"

*rocket deflects off armor*

"I knew you'd get me killed!"

Makes me laugh every time

it's a really accurate scene, these old armored tanks have insanely bad vision

0:25 I still remember that scene; I was like "oh man things are going South really bad". There's a scene in the game "Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30" that's based on this.

I know the people who own this StuG. I’ve gotten to ride on it and everything. It often appears at WW2 weekend at the Reading Airfeild in Reading PA. Every year for the weekend of June 4th-6th

これ程近接した対機甲戦闘を行える肝のすわり方が凄い
It's amazing that they have the balls to do this kind of up-close anti-tank combat.

Remember that before the badassary of Winters with his Island charge, and Spiers with his hooking up with I-company and coming back, there was Welsh with his solo grenading an MG42 and loading the bazooka in open field.

My great grandfather was In this very battle under fox company

Only inaccuracy he found was that about 50 American tanks showed up not 4
