If your neck and shoulders are constantly tight, and massage only gives you short term relief… the joints in your spine, not the muscles, are the underlying problem. Restricted, irritated spinal joints at the base of your neck are the no.1 cause of chronic, stiff, tight shoulders. WHAT CAUSES NECK AND SHOULDER STIFFNESS?
Spending too much time in forward flexed neck position. Eg...
• Looking at a phone place at stomach level
• craning your head forward, or down, to look at computer screens
• and especially... leaning back against sofas or bedheads where your head is pushed forward.
So instead:
• Hold your phone up with a supported arm
• lift screens and bring them closer
• sit up straight on the sofa
• and read on your side in bed, rather than sitting in bed.
