I (sort of?) got over most of my social anxiety during high school, by realizing (and reminding myself), that other people probably only notice me as much as I notice them

So when I felt self conscious about something, I would think to myself “do I notice that about other people?” And usually the answer would be No. Meaning, they probably don’t see it (towards me) either!

I don’t fear interacting with people, never had an issue to speak with someone in public. The only thing that bothers me is that whenever I go outside alone, I feel like everyone is watching me or thinking about me. I really want to make this thing right.

These 3 tips are essentially how I overcame SAD, also with the assistance of "The Social Anxiety Workbook." One thing that I conditioned myself to do when dealing with the "Spotlight Effect" is this: If someone pokes fun or comments about something you appeared to do wrong, it's because they cared in some way. Either they cared about you because they want to push you to be a better you, or it's a bully who does it because they're trying to affirm that someone is beneath them. In either case, being humble about the interaction always improves the situation for you and them, especially if you can joke about it, and earns you more respect, as opposed to running away (which is a lose-lose scenario, basically).

Every moment that reveals our social anxiety is a fantastic opportunity to build from it. Be the best you, everyone.

One of the ways i implemented to handle this problem is by commenting on YouTube videos which is something i never done before. I always had this fear that i might get judged if i commented something irrelevant or inappropriate. But it turns out it is not as bad as it seems.

Just in time ! Now and then I need a reminder to keep facing the underlying fear of rejection or it just keeps of growing. Never really goes away.

social anxiety is not even the issue with me anymore. I've just conditioned myself to be dependent on texting people rather than having real life interactions. that's why I got rid of social media that way my brain would be hungry for social interactions. it's really helped me a big deal.

Your tips are right. If you combine exposure therapy along with cognitive reconstruction you will see results. I also believe that if you learn how to be happy being alone and becoming more confident by improving yourself more then it will help you get rid of anxiety

Honestly, once i realised that my own enemy is myself and not the people I’m assuming are laughing at me, life’s been a bit easier. I realised that all these negative thoughts came from me, not from anyone else.

The part about the spotlight effect, when people tell me this it never makes sense to me. How in one sense am I overly analyzing everyone but nobody's over analyzing me? That doesn't make sense

But I really don't know what small talk to make.. I'm always more interested in having deeper conversations rather than small talk with people, do you have any tips?

Can't take the bus during rush hour, it puts me in a fight or flight state, same with the supermarket when it's busy (it's open late, so that's when I go there).
This'll sound like deflection but I promise it's not... I think the world's changed in bad ways, the social dynamics having gone from polite to more impersonal than it's ever been.
I've been thinking about moving away from the capital of my country, I'd rather deal with having to worry about a reputation in a small town than not meaning anything to the people who live around me.
