Or use your torch on your phone, or else they might just have a badly installed mirror (which they put immediately on top of the other). If you press your phone's flashlight up against the mirror and turn the bathroom lights off, you should be able to see into the other side since one-way mirrors only work if one side is bright and the other dark.

A good quality mirror has a thicker layer of glass in front of the reflective coating its the reason for the gap.

One way mirrors don’t have the gap, normal mirrors do. Get your safety tips right pls we don’t wanna scare a population lol

This trick doesn't work. That can happen on normal mirrors depending on which side the reflective material is on. Check 1-way mirrors by cupping your hands around your eyes and pressing them up to the mirror

The mirror has a chromium reflective surface on the back that on the back of the chromium surface is blackened out.
On a two-way mirror the glass has a chromium film adhered to a de-polarizing solarized film that darkens out light from passing through the chromium film unless the light on the front of the mirror is within a specific luminary range to allow the ability to see through the mirror from only one side, the side without the gap, the outside of the glass and the de-polarizing solarized film, which if placed on the front, the glass would be darkened out on the edges, framed over the edges or both.
It would be made with a very high tensile strength so's not to be scrapped off the glass, like a glass or polymer clear coat finish over the chromium film or be placed within the glass as a whole, as you see on automotive to aircraft windows and windshields. The glass would be Safety or even Bullet Proof glass also, so the glass can not easily be broken ! ! ! DDH 3-9-2023.
