some mirrors that are openable do have a gap but some don’t

It's really simple. This depends on the thickness of the glass. If the mirror is thick, say 5-8 mm, that distance will be between the side you are touching and the side that's painted to reflect light. Hence the gap. However, if the mirror is really thin, there is not enough distance between the paint and the outer surface. Here in this case, it's a door frame, with a really thin mirror supported by wood or something from behind. Usually we do this test for wall mirrors of hotel rooms. Wall mirrors essentially are thicker. There is no other way around it. You aren't gonna buy a 0.5-1 mm mirror to frame on your wall, will you?

They could've used a two way mirror and plastered it on to a wooden panel.

I’m just happy I’m not the only family that saves that last end of soap. 😂

Best test is putting a sledgehammer straight through it

The "gap" you'd be looking for is much wider. There be no gap here.

All mirrors have a gap, some are just thicker than others. This mirror had a gap, too, I can see it, it’s just small. Mirrors are simply a piece of glass with a reflective coating painted on the back. The gap is the thickness of the glass, aka, the distance between your finger and the reflective surface. The thinner the glass the lighter the weight. For a cabinet door, you’re going to want the mirror to be as light as possible for obvious reason. This mirror is really thin, so the gap is small, but it is there.

The test is to see if it’s see through on the other side, if there’s a gap anyone standing on the other side can see you.

The mirror test is a one way mirror thing where someone could watch you through the mirror

Yes but the mirror in my room didn't have a gap and since the only way is to break it will never know if someone spying on me

That glass is so thin. You gotta think the coating is painted on the back side of the glass so however thick the glass is how big the gap.

Gap is glass thickness on Aluminium sheet

No, it just means that your mirror is two-sided. Looks like they just painted one side. So.eone can put a camera in the medicine cabinet to record if they use a little paint remover on the other side.
