Record-breaking heatwaves are causing chaos across the northern hemisphere.
They can be deadly: Last summer, they killed 61,000 people in Europe.
But what do heatwaves actually do to your body?
When temperatures rise, the body tries to maintain its normal temperature of 37 degrees Celsius by sweating, which cools you down.
If your temperature passes 40 degrees, you get heatstroke, with symptoms ranging from headaches and vomiting to delirium or even coma.
