Bought a 2001 Odyssey in 2004. In 2005 had to have transmission replaced; had 65k miles on it. Had it towed to dealership and they replaced the transmission and didn't charge me anything, called it a 'in good faith/customer appreciation' repair or something. Found out several weeks later about the recall for transmission failure.

Man, the knowledge this guy has, and his willingness to teach others. I have learned so much about vehicle inspections from Scotty that I feel much more confident about picking out used cars. I have compiled notes on my phone about which cars have issues, what the issues are, what the symptoms are, what the fix is, and what the cost vs benefit arguments are. And, better still, helped compile a list of the best and most reliable used cars for the money.

That knowledge already helped me avoid some lemons and dodgy sellers and pick a winner. His channel has impacted my knowledge level more than any other channel on any other subject.
Great job, Scotty.

"Oil is pretty cheap compared to a four or five thousand dollar or more engine". Words to keep your car alive by..👍

All though I'm not in the market for buying a car, Scotty's common sense approach is valuable information for anybody who drives.

Excellent video as usual. Own a 2018 Civic with 2 liter non-turbo engine. Did my research before buying it and the oil dilution issue started back then. Scotty is the best YT mechanic who tells the truth.

"3 Worst Cars You Shouldn’t Buy"-I'm starting to think there's very few cars Scotty like.
Honestly, I agree. After 35 years in the repair business and usually only seeing problems, I have the biased opinion that all cars suck. Some just suck a little less than others.

The power train on my 2006 ridge line was rock solid. I sold the vehicle with 265, 000 miles on the odometer, was running as good as day 1.

Sold my 2014 Honda Odyssey Elite with over 312000 miles. Used it as a Uber. Never have a transmission problem. Change the transmission fluid every 30k . The new owner is still driving it. If you maintain the vehicle it will run forever especially a Honda and Toyota!

My odessey has a camshaft issue and it’s out of warranty Smfh. Changed the timing belt and thought it was that. Honda refuse to fix. 60k miles Smfh

My son has an 04 Pilot and he has over 300, 000 miles and has replaced the tranny and catalytic converter. My 2004 Honda Element has 209, 000 with the 2.4 and have only replaced front ball joints and rear upper control arms and vtec solenoid. I get serviced regularly. Just recently went to Honda for an oil change ($20 with scratch off coupon) and the young taking in the cars asked me if I was selling it. Nope plan to keep it till I croak or the car dies.😀

#1 thing to remember with older Honda's CHANGE THE TIMING BELT EVERY 70, 000 Miles!!!

"But isn't 70k too early"? YES! That is exactly the point! Better to change it too early than too late.
Changed regularly, the Honda engine will outlive the rest of the car. First thing you do when you buy a used Honda, If that belt doesn't look brand spanking new get it changed.

Scotty, been a fan for a year. I just bought a CMX110LM Honda Rebel...it's water-cooled, ABS, Cruse & w/Traction control. It has 6 gears and can do 130 in 5th. I plan to do the appalachian mountains this new year...22'.

We still have a 2003 Honda Odyssey here with over 160k miles. As far as I’m aware the transmission fluid has never been changed but it still shifts like butter lol.

Hi Scotty, please make a video of your celica being driven around, like you road test your customers cars. I'm sure many viewers would like to see this.

The 2.0T’s are fine on the Accords and safe to buy. It’s the 1.5T’s you wanna stay away from them.
