Here in Dubai we get the Hyundai santa fe made in Korea which are very reliable have very high miles on them with original engine and transmission used as taxis or rental car. USA makes their own santa fe but reality in Europe market and Korean made santa fe is very different.

Depreciation is an interesting concept. For example good luck buying a used Toyota Sienna vs a used Chrysler Pacifica. Is the Sienna more reliable ABSOLUTELY! But you are paying a huge premium for that reliability. Instead you can buy a Pacifica with reasonable reliability for a fraction of the price of a Sienna. In the long run the Pacifica won't be any more expensive than the Sienna to own (assuming you can actually find a Sienna to buy...lol). Another example is the Dodge RAM 1500. I've had a RAM since 2014. It has been absolutely trouble free with the 5.7 hemi engine. I bought it new and it cost $20, 000 less than a similar equipped Toyota Tundra. Now would the resale value be higher on a 2014 Tundra....YES. But I would have had to pay $20, 000 more for it in 2014! Plus I have no reason to sell my really reliable RAM. Even better news is that given the current market I would get good money for my RAM today! BTW - I agree that most Chrysler dealers are hard to deal with, but in my experience Toyota is just as bad. Toyota's customer service and dealer network suck. So your best bet it to find a reliable independent mechanic to work on your vehicle...regardless of make.

I can confirm the info on the grand cherokee. I have a 2014, and nothing but problems after the 4th year. The sunroof kept leaking, the brakes and suspension still have weird noises that no one can figure out. Tires wear out prematurely. I can't wait to get rid of it.

I am surprised you ranked the Ford Explorer so low. My first one went to 160, 000 miles before I crashed it. It never had any problems. I then bought another Ford Explorer it is also running great. My Ford Explorers were the normally aspirated V6 engines. Perhaps the bigger engine makes the difference in reliability ? Thoughts?

Traded a newish Aveo for a used range Rover (severely lacked any experience at the time) why would someone make such a deal? Well after discovering a fun rattling sound the "mechanics" I took it to couldn't decide whether it was the lifters or the....get this....3 that's right 3 timing chains....needless to say I dumped it like nuclear waste and traded it straight up for a very reliable Ford Learned my lesson now don't I don't buy anything unless I research it to death

The issue with me is that I'm 6'7" and I can't fit in most of the Japanese vehicles. German and American vehicles provide plenty of leg and headroom, but they're not reliable. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️
