Very accurate on the Mazdaspeed platform. You can very happily go FBO with a tune and enjoy 350hp with 21psi of boost and stock fueling. Past that.. Things like axels and rods start to have a bad time.

I love my 2012 Speed3 but I have to agree with you on this. On a stock engine yes it can hit 400whp, but some die before that. Do yourself a favor and build the motor for the power you want to make. There are plenty built motor 500+whp Speed3's out there because the person did the right decisions and built the motor and added more fueling with PI and associated mods. My motor is built to handle 600+whp.

The thing about M cars is they depreciate a lot but the maintenance is the same price. You gotta have M car money to actually afford the car. If you can get your hands on a manual E60 M5 though and can afford the maintenance, one of the best cars on the road.

I also have more tire than my horse power can handle, but, that's just a stock engine upgraded wheels tires and brakes sort of thing. You can have a lot of fun with 182hp and a turbo that revs to 8k.

Love the M5 but those dame cranks are butter, our employee had on and lost 5 and 7 had to have the crank welded reground and heat treated and had to rebuild it from bare block back up cause there was so much metal. Head bolt torqueing on them is so dame convoluted also

Ok. Since you dropped this not long ago and I’m the 5th one to reply I’ll put some detail into this. Donut did a very poor job with Subaru. I just built out a ‘09 Subaru outback xt, put an IAG magnum long block in it, and a bunch of other goodies, supporting parts and accessories. Modify Subarus as much as your little heart desires, just do it right and in the correct order, modifying cosmetics and drivability is the first for the “budget builders” otherwise if your willing to drop 20-30-40k and get good longevity out of a Subaru modify the engine to take some abuse get a long block, get a baffled oil pan, upgrade rods, go closed deck, ect, ect. Just do it right and don’t let some influencers that went about it wrong turn you away! Long live Subaru ❤

So I have a Speed3 and I can for sure say that OVER-modding can kill that MZR 2.3t. Story time: I test drove a Speed6 making 360whp and was blown away from the experience. They are very fun platforms. But a week later, the speed6’s engine blew up so I couldn’t buy it. My speed3 is at 300hp with no problems. For an entry-level sleeper hatch, does it need to be any faster than that? Not really. Mazdaspeed imo, is more about the fun; not about the lap times.

Me and my cousin had turbo single cam Hondas in highschool and he wanted a speed3 so much and then one of our buddys got one. For like 3 months my cuz was talking about them….. then our buddys blew up
