John MacArthur: MARY, THE MOTHER OF GOD??

Dr. John MacArthur is—far and away—America’s greatest Bible teacher. In 2015, I had a burning desire to understand what the Bible really meant, however, everywhere I searched, all
I found was grossly undereducated men who called themselves “preachers” or “pastors” who were chiefly interested in:
1. Making money
2. Gaining popularity
3. Spreading a false gospel

It was quite obvious to me they had very little Biblical knowledge.

MacArthur, on the other hand, has a vast knowledge of the Bible and goes to great pains to explain it so articulately. I can honestly say that he changed the direction of my life. I am forever grateful to find such a wonderful teacher. Therefore, I’ve created this YouTube channel in order to propagate his accurate and thorough Biblical teachings.

Here you will find a wealth of information on virtually any subject in God’s Word. You can search by scripture, Books of the Bible, or keywords.

MacArthur is not focused on making money, unlike many false Christian preachers today. You can download his sermons for FREE! Just click on this link to go directly to his sermons.

I pray that God blesses you with a deeper understanding of the Word of God!

Christians: Can we have valid theology please?
Macarthur: The best I can do is Nestorianism

Our Lord Jesus never instructed his Disciples/Apostles to pray to Mary. Never did any of the Apostles instruct believers to pray to Mary in their Epistles. That's all the proof you need.

I’m a Protestant, yet I understand why she is the “Mother of God.”

- Mary is the mother of Jesus.
-Jesus is God (incarnate)
- Therefore, Mary is the mother of God.

This issue was dealt with at the Council of Ephesus in AD 431 to refute Nestorius, who taught that Mary was the “Mother of Christ” but not the “Mother of God.”

It may seem like semantics, but this has more to do with Christology than Mary. To claim that Jesus was simply the “Christ” would then line up with Jehovah’s Witness theology, which teaches that Jesus was just human, but not God. But to call her the “Mother of God” would clarify the declaration at Nicaea (AD 325), that Jesus was God.

People gotta do their homework

Considering how much Calvinist/Reformed types like MacArthur cite St. Augustine of Hippo in their theology, it’s odd they reject Augustine’s veneration of Mary as “God-bearer”, “Mother of God”, or Theotokos. Anyways, Jesus still filled her request and turned the water into wine.

I knew the guy was whacko, but didn't realize he's a full on Nestorian. Theotokos is Christology 101.

I'm Greek Orthodox and of course we absolutely revere Mother Mary, however Jesus Christ is our ONLY Lord and Savior. We pray to the Father thru Jesus' Holy name. Amen.

I am Catholic and I am appalled at this. First of all, what is your motive, John MacArthur? To tear down another Church and its beliefs - to get people to go to you? or to Jesus? Where is the Christian attitude of - we all love Jesus - and maybe there are different paths to get to Him and even Jesus says that - in my Father’s house are many mansions………etc. I don’t go around criticizing my non-Catholic brothers and sisters - for not having the same love for Mary that I do - I LOVE them and try to build bridges so that we can worship together in harmony. I will NEVER understand the need to tear down another religion that is clearly of God to make ourselves look smart or the best or the most learned. Your misunderstanding and different interpretation of Scripture - is being handled very poorly here and in a non-Christian manner. Another name for Satan is “Diablos” - the divider. Please don’t give in to him. Let’s stand on the common ground of the Bible and of the Glorious Word of God and of His Saving Passion - He died for ALL of us! God bless you and peace be with you. “He has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility” - ”Let us love one another for love is of God”

Mary, herself needed salvation. Jesus said, “ Before Abraham was, I AM. Mary is earthly, human, and has a beginning. Jesus, the second person of the Trinity has no beginning because he is God. ( second person of the Trinity) Jesus has existed with God from eternities past. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, except Mary. No! All have sinned period! All men/women need Salvation including Mary. Mary needed Salvation like all humanity needs Salvation. To pray to Mary is blasphemy. We can boldly approach the throne of grace. Praying to Mary is not biblical but a tradition of the Catholic fathers. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for their traditions. Jesus would rebuke catholic traditions.

50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Matthew 12:50
Clearly our Lord could have done some powerful teaching as to how to respond to His mother after His death. Yet, speaks of the importance of honoring the Father through obedience instead. Praise Jesus Christ Hallelujah

Matthew 6:7 - 8 (NLT)
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.
8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!"

verse 7 "....as the Gentiles do..."

The New Living Translation translates "gentiles"

- whereas J.B.Phillips (and others) translates it "pagans"

- and others translate it "heathens".

How much more plainly could Jesus have said it? DO NOT PRAY TO MARY over and over and over (the rosary??!!!!)
