As a 30+ year Mechanic, the biggest thing I see with modern Ford engines and most modern vehicles in general is extended oil change intervals. Most modern Fords go 10, 000 miles between oil changes when using the oil life monitor system… No gas engine, especially turbo charged will survive with 10, 000 mile oil changes.

I've been a mechanic for over 45 years. I've been a lifelong Chevrolet owner. I live in Texas and I have worked for Ford and Chevrolet dealerships. Due to Chevrolet's refusal to fix their lifter issues I have decided to go to Ford that is what I'm driving now the 2023 F150 5.0 . Absolutely love the power this truck puts out very comfortable truck to drive as well. I appreciate all your videos. It will continue to watch. Thanks

2014 f150 5.0 bought new has worked 5 days a week hauling 5000 pound trailer, just hit 160k miles and the only issue the truck had was a water pump at 75k other than that Oil changes, brakes and tires. Been the most reliable work truck I’ve ever owned next to the diesels.

I have a Gen 1 2.7 ecoboost with 175, 000 miles 15% dirt roads with zero issues. It’s been a great engine!

Changed the spring secret...get the piston to TDC, lock the crank from turning, using an air compressor fill the cylinder with air. Yes, they make adapters. Now, when you release the spring, the valve will not fall into the bore due to the air pressure. Replace the spring and release the pressure.

I have a gen 2 3.5 ecoboost, I did the cam phaser upgrade myself. Love this motor as it is tuned by 5 star. Best bang for the buck. my friend bought a 2011 new with a 3.5 ecoboost. He owns a performance shop. He does his oil changes, with moble one synthetic. Not only has he never touched the motor, he tows a 28 foot trailer with a race car, golf cart, big freezer. I can bet it is above the maximum tow capacity. I was dumb founded on how reliable that motor is. It makes me believe that oil changes with quality oil makes the difference

Great Video! I am an original Senior Master(1999) and spent 25 years with Ford, I got out of the dealer rat race in 2009, so I'm a dinosaur now, but wow, I love your honest straight forward opinions and your technical knowledge, your dealer is lucky to have you, I hope they take care of you.

I talked to a gentleman at a gas station that swears by the 2.7. He told me the company he works for has over 100 f-150’s with that motor and they never give them issues.

I’ve got a gen 1 3.5 with 464, 000 miles on it and love it. The manifold bolt broke, the lead rail in the tranny was replaced 380, 000 but everything else is original and still running 100 mph across the country. I hate the 10 speed transmission, my brother had one and it skipped gears all the time it just sucked. I personally love the 6 speed 465, 000 and still going strong

Great video. Had a 2013 3.5 eco boost with 3.73 gears. 4x4. Never any problems. Traded it in at 83k for 2023 Ford Eco boost 3.5 with 3.55 gears. Pull travel trailer and always did me a great job. I also did my maintenance regularly and used amsoil after 10, 000 miles. Change at 7500 miles

Gen 1 - 3.5 with 215k miles

Changed the waterpump, heater hose, thermostat, and thats about it.
Maintenance is the KEY.

I keep hearing that the 15-17 years with the 5.0 is THE sweet spot for the truck

I love my 2016 F150 with a V8. It took me nine months to find one with a perfectly documented maintenance history, but it was worth the wait, and I also got a great price.

We have a 2016 transit with the 3.5 EcoBoost and so far it’s been a champ, I’m also following my mechanic’s advice and doing very frequent oil changes. No engine issues so far. Love it and it has a 0-60 of 6.4s in a 15 passenger van 😂
