Reminds me of a time long ago, when I was stationed aboard a guided missile destroyer and we were on a cruise in the Indian Ocean. and when not in CIC on watch, I’d be in my rack listening to the two tapes I had of America among others, fighting back tears because I missed my girlfriend so badly. One year later I was back in port, and married to that girl. Now, almost 46 years later, she and I are still married, and I still love listening to the greatness of America.

I heard this song in Vietnam when I was 13 (1972). The Vietnam War was raging at the time. And now I am 65. I still listen to this song in the car on my way to work.❤

This song was the first song I ever heard from America, as a boy, back in the 70's. I remember it like it was yesterday! We were in my mothers 1975 Chevy Impala Wagon, and this song came on the radio, and even at that young age, this song really grabbed me! I've loved them ever since!!

This wonderful tune really stood out at the time with it's amazing melody, harmonies and lyrics, even the state of the art sound quality sounds better than many digital recordings today. It was a US number 1 in 1972, hard to believe that America recorded this landmark track in the UK where it was first released reaching number 3 in the charts !.
