LYRICS

"On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds
and rocks and things.
There was sand and hills and rings.

The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
and a sky with no clouds.
The heat was hot
and the ground was dry
but the air was full of sound.

I've been through the desert
on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert,
you can't remember your name
'cause there ain't no one
for to give you no pain.

La la... la lalala la lala la... la.. la.
la la... la lalala la lala la... la.. la.

After two days in the desert sun
my skin began to turn red.
After three days in the desert sun
I was looking at a river bed.
And the story it told of a river that flowed
made me sad to think it was dead.

I've been through the desert
on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert,
you can't remember your name
'cause there ain't no one
for to give you no pain.

After nine days, I let the horse run free
'cause the desert had turned to sea.
There were plants and birds
and rocks and things.
There was sand and hills and rings.
The ocean is a desert
with its life underground
and a perfect disguise above.
Under the city
lies a heart made of ground
but the humans will give no love.

I've been through the desert
on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert,
you can't remember your name
'cause there ain't no one
for to give you no pain."

I waited for years to see America and was lucky to see them about a year ago. I had tears running down my face. I was in first row. They seemed to have joy singing their signature songs.

My favorite situation:

Person: "Did you go there?  What did you see there?"
Me: "There were plants and birds and rocks and things."

Wow no comments, shocking! Boy did my best friend and me love these guys in high school. Now you know how old I am. Still like it though.

Man you heard it on a video game or you heard it on a tv show doesn't do the same justice a hearing this as a kid in your old mans car sitting on a bench seat and listening to this on the push button radio.
Still it's a goos song regardless i guess but it'll always remind me of being a kid in the summer with the old man.
Miss ya old fella x

Wonderfully loopy lyric poetry.  As for me, I have never been through the desert on a "Horse With No Name".  The horses that I role in summer camp in the 1960s had names, but I forgot them all.

American band discovered in the UK. Apparently their fathers were US servicemen serving in England.

Great and catchy song! I refound it in Breaking Bad (previously I did not realise its name). I read it is inspired in a Native American tale but unfortunately I do not remember it well.
