How To Kill Fleas Naturally at Home (With Coconut Oil)

Did you know that you can use coconut oil as a natural flea killer?
Many people are reluctant to use over the counter flea treatments as these contain chemicals that do not always agree with your pet pouch.
The side effects of flea preventive medicines can include rashes, vomiting, diarrhea and seizures, to name a few.
Some people say to give Brewer’s yeast and garlic to your dog to kill fleas, but garlic is bad for dogs. It can cause anemia and liver damage over time as it builds up in your dog’s system.
There are some other natural remedies, but the most safe and effective organic flea treatment is coconut oil! Something most people have in their homes.

It’s always best to use virgin, un-refined coconut oil. All you need to do is take a little and rub it into your dog’s skin. You can wipe the excess on their fur.
If your dog already has fleas, you’ll want to do this treatment outside somewhere, perhaps away from your yard because you may find that the fleas jump off your dog almost instantly. You don’t want any survivors lurking around, although the coconut oil kills fleas quickly.
Another method is to mix a little coconut oil with water in a spray bottle. Spray your dog every day, followed up by a nice rub down.
Keep in mind that most dogs love the taste of coconut oil so don’t be surprised if yours tries to lick it off. If he does, it’s perfectly ok since coconut oil is safe for dogs to ingest, but we recommend putting an old t-shirt on your dog after application to prevent them from licking it off before it has a chance to soak into their skin.
Because coconut oil is an organic way to kill fleas, and does not contain nasty chemicals, you may need to reapply frequently as a preventative measure, and as needed to treat any existing fleas, but the benefits are worth it.
The application to their skin can also benefit them in many other ways, not to mention it will make their coat shiny, help sores on their skin and it smells wonderful!

Coconut Oil works great. . Normal Vegetable oil works just as well. I first did an all body Vegetable Oil rub, and the Fleas were immediately dying. I found just along the spine from the base of the tail to the neck works fine as well (The Fleas seem to go to this area the most). I was using Advantage Flea control drops, but it was never 100% effective.

This truly works so well. I agree with the one comment below. Frontline, advantage for some reason it's not as effective like it use to be. I have battled with a flea situation for 2months. I have spent over 200.00 on home sprays for bedding, upholstery etc. I've tried the baking soda and sea salt method. It's just Hassel after hassle. Fleas are so annoying. When my daughter told me coconut oil.. BAM!! 2 Fleas we're already on the blanket I had over my lap and two were on the surface of my dogs fur. Wish I knew about this before time. None of those external sprays, works somewhat. Using The coconut oil is so much easier and safe...you can easily spot the flea when your pet is oiled enough. Good luck to those battling with fleas.

Actually, if you use fresh garlic & use a couple of cloves sauteed & added to their food, it's fine. People who use minced garlic in a jar, garlic salt, etc, is what's bad because there's other ingredients in those. Fresh Garlic that you peel yourself & dice up a couple of cloves is fine to use.

I'm not buying into it. I have a little pug and tried it last year. At one point he was covered in coconut oil for over 3 days and it was useless. The reason why was because the oil dosent kill eggs so they will still continue to show up daily.
